Position Title: Manager, Facilities
Position Type: Full-Time
Reports to: Director of Capital Projects & Asset Management
Job Overview
Reporting to the Director of Capital Projects & Asset Management, the Manager of Facilities is responsible for the maintenance and repair of Haisla Nation's buildings, properties and grounds. Additionally, the Manager of Facilities is responsible for the supervision of the janitors' team, janitor contractors and cleaning services.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Ensure confidentiality and security of sensitive information.
- Manage employees in a manner consistent with Haisla Nation values, policies and procedures, including selection, work scheduling, training and performance evaluation.
- Track parts inventory and place orders.
- Perform staff reviews and monitor performance and provide appropriate professional feedback (both formally and informally) to employees and shall be responsible for establishing formal professional assessments and evaluation of the department's workforce.
- Mentor staff and provide training and professional development opportunities to enhance performance levels, increase knowledge, and improve the effectiveness of staff.
- Coordinate facilities repair and monitor system performance.
- Coordinate pest control services.
- Supervise Maintenance staff and maintenance contractors.
- Supervise cleaning staff and cleaning contractors.
- Review and approve timesheets and purchase orders related to the department.
- Communicate, inform and when required train other staff on policy and procedures related to maintenance.
- Conduct facilities inspections, data collection, and condition of Haisla Nation buildings.
- Present recommendations/reports to senior management and Council. Attend and participate in meetings of Council as required by the Director and represents the Haisla Nation Department at various external committees and public engagement events.
- Communicates workplace safety precautions to employees.
- Forecasts, allocates, and supervises the financial and physical resources of the facility management.
- Provide advisory services to the leadership team and other staff/stakeholders as required in maintenance and cleaning services.
- Provide technical training and support on maintenance and cleaning and related tools.
- Gather, create, compile and maintain cleaning inventories.
- Identify gaps, opportunities and risks associated with maintenance and cleaning services.
- Manages and reviews service contracts.
- Liaise with tradespeople to install, maintain & repair systems including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, etc. and approve such work upon completion.
- Support and apply for facility-related grant applications.
- Shall be responsible for fostering (and encouraging) a positive working relationship among staff.
- Responsible for overseeing (or assigning) supervision of daily activities of all department staff, and for ensuring that work is carried out in an efficient and effective manner.
- Assist in the review, development and implementation of maintenance & cleaning policies and procedures.
- Coordinates with management staff and other departments to identify, develop, and implement service level goals and performance measures.
- Other responsibilities: As assigned.
Skills & Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in Facilities Management, Power Engineering or related Trades education and training is strongly preferred or a combination of education and 5+ years demonstrated maintenance experience.
- Proven experience of building systems, boiler and cooling tower, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and carpentry.
- Relationship-Building Skills: High-level ability to foster effective and collaborative relationships.
- Attention to Detail: Thorough and meticulous in reviewing and analyzing data to ensure accuracy.
- Organizational Skills: Ability to manage multiple tasks, schedules, and responsibilities efficiently.
- Experience working for a band, government, or Indigenous organization is an asset.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on data-driven decision-making.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and various databases, search engines and Outlook/email.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and record-keeping.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills with the ability to professionally connect with and influence a diverse group of individuals.
- Lead by example, developing and nurturing a work environment that is inclusive, respectful, with a focus on staff development.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to meet intensive and changing deadlines.
- Ability to work independently and as a team.
- Valid BC driver's license and own vehicle is an asset.
- Satisfactory completion of criminal records check (with vulnerable sector screening if relevant).

Salary Range: $73,000.00 - $85,000.00 annually
