Position: Industrial Painter
Location: 410/Orenda in Brampton, ON
Dayshift: 7am to 4pm Monday to Friday
Payrate: $25.00 up to $30.00 per hour (DOE)
Permanent after 3 months of probation
PRIMARY PURPOSE
Our client is a Manufacturer of High Speed Packaging Machinery. The Industrial Painter for Machine Parts is responsible for preparing and painting machine components and parts prior to final machine assembly.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Industrial Machine Part Painter is responsible for:
- Prepare steel and machine components for painting by cleaning, sanding, grinding, masking, and removing oil, grease, and other contaminants.
- Apply primer and paint using spray equipment and other appropriate painting methods.
- Mix paints, primers, and coatings according to specifications.
- Ensure parts receive proper coverage and a clean, professional finish.
- Mask machined surfaces, holes, threads, labels, and other areas that must remain paint-free.
- Inspect finished parts and complete touch-ups or rework when required.
- Identify and report surface or quality issues before and after painting.
- Clean and maintain spray guns, hoses, tools, and painting equipment.
- Keep the paint area clean, organized, and safe.
- Safely handle paints, solvents, and other materials.
- Work closely with the Machine Shop, Welding, and Assembly teams to keep parts moving through production.
- Follow production priorities and complete work within required timelines.
- Follow all company safety procedures, including WHMIS, PPE, ventilation, and chemical-handling requirements.
- Assist with general shop duties and machine-building activities when required.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Qualifications and Requirements:
- High School Diploma, GED or equivalent.
- Must pass WHMIS training upon being hired.
- Minimum 3 years' experience as an Industrial Painter.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment with little-to-no oversight.
- Machine Shop bench work experience considered an asset.
- Previous experience in industrial painting, machine painting, automotive painting, or a similar environment.
- Experience spray painting metal components is an asset.
- Experience preparing surfaces and achieving a quality finish.
- Experience using spray guns and related painting equipment.
- Good attention to detail and pride in the quality of your work.
- Able to work independently and manage priorities in a busy shop environment.
- Comfortable working with hand tools and performing general shop duties.
- Reliable, hardworking, and safety-conscious.
- Good communication skills and a willingness to work as part of a team.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- This is a hands-on manufacturing position in our machine-building facility. Our shop is active, fast-paced, and can be loud.
- Must be comfortable working around large machine components and working closely with our machine builders, welders, electricians, and assembly teams.
- Candidate must be comfortable being on their feet throughout the day and performing physical work, including bending, reaching, lifting, sanding, masking, and handling machine components.
- Safety equipment required (e.g. steel-toed safety boots, safety glasses, fitted mask, full coverall suit, etc.).
