Our client is looking for a Regional Technical Leader - Building Science to oversee the technical and operational direction of a high-performing practice across the Atlantic Canada region. In this pivotal role, you will guide complex projects, mentor a multidisciplinary team, and collaborate with senior leadership to elevate standards across the building science and building envelope restoration division. This position is ideal for a seasoned engineering professional who thrives in a collaborative, forward-thinking environment and wants to make a lasting impact on technically demanding building rehabilitation and asset performance projects.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Practice Leadership: Provide strategic and technical leadership for the building science division, ensuring overall excellence and consistency in project delivery.
  • Team Mentorship: Oversee and support a team of engineering professionals, fostering a culture of mentorship, career growth, and continuous technical learning.
  • Technical Oversight: Lead, review, and execute complex building science investigations, diagnostic analyses, and targeted design solutions.
  • Quality Assurance: Conduct rigorous peer reviews of engineering reports, detailed drawings, and specifications to maintain the highest quality standards.
  • Condition Assessments: Perform comprehensive building condition assessments, forensic engineering investigations, and structural remediation troubleshooting.
  • Innovative Remediation: Interpret complex field findings to develop innovative, practical, and sustainable solutions for performance improvement and existing building rehabilitation.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with multidisciplinary engineering and architectural teams to integrate building science principles seamlessly into broader design and construction processes.
  • Business Development: Support regional market growth by cultivating strong client relationships, identifying new opportunities, and contributing to technical proposals.
What You Bring:
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related discipline with a dedicated focus on Building Science.
  • Credential: Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation is required.
  • Experience: 10+ years of related experience in a consulting engineering environment, with a proven track record managing building science or structural restoration projects.
  • Project Depth: Extensive technical expertise in building envelope performance, construction materials, and rehabilitation projects focused primarily on existing building structures.
  • Leadership Track Record: Past supervisory or management experience, with a demonstrated passion for developing and leading technical teams.
  • Core Competencies: Exceptional analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills, paired with a high attention to detail and a commitment to delivery excellence.
