Senior Health & Safety Coordinator – Major Infrastructure Project
About the Opportunity Our client is seeking a Senior Health & Safety Coordinator to support a major infrastructure project within a highly regulated construction environment. This role is ideal for an experienced Health & Safety professional with a strong background in large-scale civil projects, tunneling, underground works, marine construction, or other high-risk environments. The successful candidate will act as a field safety leader, ensuring compliance with safety standards, supporting subcontractors, and promoting a strong safety culture throughout the project. This role is ideal for an experienced Health & Safety professional with a strong background in large-scale civil projects, tunneling, underground works, marine construction, or other high-risk environments. The successful candidate will act as a field safety leader, ensuring compliance with safety standards, supporting subcontractors, and promoting a strong safety culture throughout the project. Key Responsibilities
- Provide hands-on Health & Safety support to construction teams and subcontractors.
- Conduct site inspections, hazard assessments, audits, and safety observations.
- Review work plans and participate in project safety meetings.
- Support subcontractor compliance with safety procedures and regulations.
- Manage safety orientations and onboarding for employees and contractors.
- Prepare and maintain safety documentation, procedures, checklists, and reports.
- Assist with incident reporting, investigations, and corrective action follow-up.
- Support emergency preparedness activities and continuous safety improvements.
- Bachelor's degree in Health & Safety, Environmental Health & Safety, Risk Management, Engineering, or related field.
- 5–8+ years of field experience in Health & Safety roles within large infrastructure or construction projects.
- Experience with tunneling, underground works, TBM operations, marine construction, or civil projects is highly preferred.
- Experience in high-risk environments (nuclear, offshore, industrial, or similar) is an asset.
- Strong knowledge of health and safety legislation and safety management systems.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
