The Opportunity

New World Technologies (RAD Torque Systems) is a leading Canadian manufacturer of pneumatic, battery powered, and electronic pistol grip torque wrenches. RAD products have proven to be successful all over the world in industries such as oil & gas, petrochemical, mining, aerospace, power generation and manufacturing.
The Software Developer / Engineer will join our multidisciplinary engineering team to build and maintain software solutions spanning industrial devices, mobile applications, desktop applications, cloud services, APIs, databases, and supporting infrastructure.
This role is ideal for a versatile software engineer who enjoys solving a wide variety of technical challenges rather than focusing on a single specialization. One day you may be implementing a mobile feature, the next designing an API, troubleshooting cloud infrastructure, optimizing database performance, integrating with embedded systems, or supporting a production deployment.
You will collaborate closely with firmware, hardware, mechanical, product, V&V, and DevOps teams to develop reliable software solutions that connect RAD's products, services, and customer

Qualifications
Education

  • Bachelor's degree / diploma in a Software, Computer Science, or related technical discipline, or Equivalent.

Experience

  • 3+ years of professional software development experience.
  • Experience delivering production software solutions across multiple areas of the software stack.
  • Experience working within Agile software development environments.
Technical Skills
  • Full-stack application development, including web, desktop, mobile, and cross-platform solutions.
  • Backend development, API design, system integrations, and distributed or service-oriented architectures.
  • Database design, SQL development, data management, reporting, analytics, and performance optimization.
  • Cloud-based application deployment and infrastructure management using platforms such as Azure, AWS, or GCP.
  • DevOps practices including CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation, containerization, monitoring, and diagnostics.
  • Software engineering best practices including object-oriented design, software architecture, design patterns, secure development, and automated testing.
  • Source control, collaborative development workflows, and performance troubleshooting.
  • Authentication, authorization, networking, web protocols, and cybersecurity fundamentals.
  • Integration of software with hardware, connected devices, IoT, industrial systems, or embedded technologies.
  • Telemetry, remote device management, system diagnostics, and connected product ecosystems.
Nice to Have
  • Experience developing solutions that bridge software and physical products.
  • Experience with industrial, manufacturing, IoT, embedded, or connected device environments.
  • Exposure to large-scale cloud-native architectures and distributed system

Job Duties

  • Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain software solutions across the entire technology stack.
  • Build and enhance mobile, desktop, and web applications.
  • Design and implement backend services and APIs.
  • Develop and maintain databases and data integration solutions.
  • Contribute to cloud infrastructure, deployment automation, and operational tooling.
  • Integrate software with embedded devices, hardware systems, and third-party platforms.
  • Troubleshoot issues across applications, services, infrastructure, and connected products.
  • Participate in architecture discussions and technical decision-making.
  • Write automated tests and maintain high standards of software quality.
  • Perform code reviews and contribute to engineering best practices.
  • Collaborate with firmware, hardware, product, operations, and customer-facing teams.
  • Support production systems and assist in root-cause analysis of field issues.
  • Continuously learn new technologies and apply them where appropriate.
  • Mentor junior team members and contribute to a culture of technical excellence.
  • Other duties as assigned
