Swimming Pool Service Technician

Job description

The Swimming Pool Service Technician plays a vital role in maintaining safe, clean, and functional residential pools throughout Oakville, Mississauga and Etobicoke areas. This hands-on position involves pool openings and closings, regular maintenance, chemical testing, equipment operation, and minor repairs, often requiring daily travel between client properties. Technicians must handle chemicals and tools safely while working outdoors, either independently or within a small team.

Responsibilities

• Perform pool openings by removing covers, reinstalling equipment, starting circulation systems, and balancing water chemistry
• Conduct pool closings including winterizing plumbing, lowering water levels, adding closing chemicals, and securing covers
• Carry out weekly maintenance tasks such as skimming debris, brushing surfaces, vacuuming floors, emptying baskets, and backwashing filters
• Test and adjust chemical levels (pH, alkalinity, sanitizer, calcium hardness, stabilizer) to ensure water quality and safety
• Operate and maintain pool equipment including pumps, filters, heaters, salt systems, and automation controls; perform minor repairs
• Inspect equipment regularly and identify potential issues for prompt resolution
• Comply with safety standards when handling chemicals, tools, and working outdoors
• Travel daily to client residences using manual and powered tools for service and repairs
• Install and maintain plumbing and pool equipment as needed

Required Qualifications

• Valid driver's license

Preferred Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years' experience in the pool service industry
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Knowledge of water chemistry and chemical handling
• Experience with pool equipment repair and filter backwashing
• Understanding of safety protocols
• Strong customer service, problem-solving, and time management skills
