Role Description:

This is a full-time, on-site Construction Law Legal Assistant role based in Abbotsford, BC. The Legal Assistant will support lawyers practicing construction and related business and real estate law by preparing, formatting, and managing legal documents, contracts, and correspondence. Day-to-day responsibilities include organizing and maintaining client files, managing calendars and deadlines, scheduling meetings and court dates, and coordinating communication with clients, experts, and other parties. The role also involves conducting basic legal and factual research, assisting with file openings and closings, tracking billable time, and supporting litigation and dispute resolution processes. The successful candidate will work closely with the legal team to ensure accurate documentation, timely workflow, and responsive client service.

Qualifications

  • Strong foundation in law and familiarity with construction, business, and real estate legal concepts.
  • Proficiency in legal document preparation, including drafting, formatting, and proofreading contracts, pleadings, and correspondence.
  • Excellent communication skills for interacting with clients, counsel, and internal team members.
  • Administrative assistance and organizational abilities, including file management, scheduling, and task prioritization.
  • Experience working as a legal assistant or in a similar legal support role.
  • Certificate, diploma, or degree in legal administration, paralegal studies, or a related field is an asset.
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and confidentiality in handling sensitive information.
  • Proficiency with legal practice management software and common office applications (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Ability to work on-site in Abbotsford, BC and collaborate effectively in a team-oriented environment.
