Warehouse Associate / Material Handler – Temporary Contract

2865 Argentia Rd, Units 4-5
Mississauga, Ontario L5N 8G6
Hours
8 hours per day
Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (with a 1-hour lunch)
Pay rate: $22 - $24 per hour
Position is temporary – immediate opening for approximately 5 months, until the end of January, at which time the assignment will be re-evaluated. The position may be extended, but there is no guarantee.
Responsibilities:
- Perform general warehouse duties, including order picking, packing, wrapping, and labeling
- Load and unload trucks safely and efficiently
- Operate a hand pump truck / pallet jack
- Receive and process warehouse stock, including unpacking, put-away, tagging, and reporting discrepancies or damaged products
- Perform shipping and receiving activities in accordance with established warehouse procedures
- Regularly use hand tools to safely open and close crates
- Maintain logs and documentation to support company record-keeping requirements
- Scan and file paperwork and assist with warehouse documentation
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment, including sweeping, tidying work areas, and disposing of garbage
- Perform cycle counting, inventory control, stock verification, and other inventory-related tasks
- Assist with material handling and movement of products throughout the warehouse
- Follow established warehouse safety, PPE, and workplace procedures
- Perform other warehouse and operational duties as required
Qualifications:
- Must be legally permitted to work in Ontario
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous warehouse experience, production experience, or experience in a similar distribution or material-handling environment
- Strong communication skills and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Basic computer skills, including Email and Microsoft Excel
- Ability to accurately complete warehouse paperwork, scanning, inventory records, and basic data entry
- Must provide own CSA-approved safety shoes; safety glasses and other required PPE will be provided
- Ability to regularly walk, stand for extended periods, stoop, and crouch
- Ability to frequently lift and move up to 25 lbs and occasionally lift and move up to 50 lbs
- Reliable, safety-conscious, organized, and able to perform duties accurately in a fast-paced warehouse environment
Preferred:
- Current forklift certification
- Previous forklift operation experience
- SAP experience, particularly within warehouse, inventory, shipping, or receiving functions
- Experience with inventory management, cycle counts, shipping, receiving, or stock control
