Role SummaryPTW is seeking a motivated Project Manager to join our team in Nisku, Alberta. Reporting to the Operations Manager, this role serves as the primary client contact and manages the full lifecycle of industrial electrical and instrumentation projects—from estimating and planning through execution and closeout.
The Project Manager ensures projects are delivered safely, on time, on budget, and in alignment with client expectations, while providing strong leadership and coordination across project teams, field operations, clients, and subcontractors.
Key ResponsibilitiesChampion safety leadership and support a zero-incident workplace culture
Define project scope and establish cost and schedule baselines
Develop and implement project execution strategies and functional project plans
Identify project risks and develop effective mitigation strategies
Manage project schedules, including changes and impacts to timelines
Serve as the primary communication link between internal teams and external clients
Review bid documents, quantities, drawings, and estimates to identify discrepancies or omissions
Support estimating efforts, including branch estimates and proposal development
Review electrical and instrumentation drawings, specifications, P&IDs, cable schedules, vendor drawings, and other project documentation to determine scope, costs, and execution approach
Represent PTW in client meetings, site visits, and pre-bid walkdowns
Develop and maintain the Construction Execution Plan at a strategic level
Lead and coordinate project teams to deliver electrical and instrumentation scope in accordance with specifications
Maintain strong client relationships throughout all project phases
Chair project kick-off, progress, and close-out meetings
Oversee field execution to ensure alignment with design, budget, schedule, and project specifications
Track project performance, including forecasting, progress claims, productivity, and cost control
Ensure effective project communication and coordination meetings are held regularly
Manage change orders and project financial forecasting
Monitor and control project documentation, drawings, records, and turnover packages
Complete post-project reviews and lessons-learned reporting
Support additional branch activities as required by the Area Manager
Previous industrial electrical and/or instrumentation construction experience required
Journeyperson Electrician (Inter-Provincial Red Seal), Instrumentation Technician/Mechanic, Engineer, PMP, or related technical designation considered an asset
Strong ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, instrumentation drawings, P&IDs, cable schedules, loop drawings, vendor drawings, specifications, and other construction documents
Strong understanding of industrial electrical and instrumentation systems and construction practices
Strong MS Office skills and experience with scheduling/project management tools and software
Strong leadership skills with a self-motivated, results-driven mindset
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Strong customer service focus with the ability to meet client expectations
Ability to work independently and effectively within a team environment
Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
Valid Canadian Driver's License with acceptable 3-year driver's abstract
Strong electrical and/or instrumentation background with an understanding of related industrial construction disciplines
Willingness to travel locally to project sites and occasionally overnight
