This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on work, takes pride in producing quality results, and is committed to maintaining a safe and efficient work environment.This is a shared sandblasting position. You'll spend approximately 50-75% of your time sandblasting, with the remaining time supporting the Assembly Department or assisting with other production tasks as needed.What You'll DoAs a Paint Technician (Sandblaster), you'll help prepare steel components for painting while ensuring every product meets Norstar's quality standards.Your responsibilities include:Operate sandblasting equipment safely and efficiently within a blast boothPrepare metal and steel components for painting through cleaning, masking, and surface preparationPerform sandblasting in an unheated blast booth throughout the yearRead and follow production drawings, work orders, and written instructionsConduct quality inspections to ensure work meets company standardsMaintain sandblasting equipment and report maintenance or safety concernsComplete repairs, modifications, and retrofits as requiredAssist with production tracking and documentationSupport and help train junior team members when neededWork in the Assembly Department or assist with other production tasks when not sandblastingFollow all safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment at all timesWhat We're Looking ForPrevious sandblasting experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment is an assetMechanical aptitude and willingness to learnAbility to read and follow production drawings and work instructionsStrong attention to detail and commitment to qualityAbility to work independently and as part of a teamStrong communication and problem-solving skillsAbility to prioritize work in a fast-paced manufacturing environmentPhysically able to lift up to 50 lbs. and comfortable working at heights when requiredWillingness to work overtime as neededValid driver's license and reliable transportation requiredWhat Success Looks LikeWithin your first 6 to 12 months, you will:Consistently prepare components that meet Norstar's quality standards for painting.Demonstrate safe operation of sandblasting equipment while following all safety procedures and PPE requirements.Work confidently from production drawings and work instructions with minimal supervision.Successfully support both sandblasting and assembly operations based on production needs.Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area while contributing positively to the production team.Become a dependable team member known for quality workmanship, reliability, and flexibility.Why Join Norstar?Competitive compensation based on experienceComprehensive benefits packageFour-day work week (40 hours, Monday to Thursday)Stable, family-owned manufacturing companyOpportunities for professional growth and advancementCross-training opportunities across multiple departmentsSupportive team environment focused on quality, safety, and teamworkAt Norstar, we believe exceptional products are built by exceptional people.
