The Accounting Coordinator supports the Accounts Payable function by processing vendor invoices, handling intercompany postings, and responding to vendor inquiries. This role helps maintain accurate financial records, prepares journal entries, and assists with month-end and year-end procedures. It offers an excellent opportunity for early-career accounting professionals to gain hands-on experience in a professional office environment while working closely with the finance team.
Responsibilities- Receive, review, and verify vendor invoices for accuracy, proper coding, and approval.
- Support Accounts Payable by posting invoices in a timely and accurate manner.
- Respond to vendor inquiries and resolve issues related to invoices, payments, and account status.
- Support intercompany postings by preparing, recording, and reconciling intercompany transactions.
- Prepare journal entries in accordance with accounting standards and internal procedures.
- Assist with month-end and year-end procedures, including reconciliations and supporting schedules.
- Maintain accurate accounting documentation and filing, ensuring records are complete, organized, and easily accessible.
- Support payment runs by preparing and reviewing payment batches and ensuring proper supporting documentation.
- Assist with general ledger activities and basic bookkeeping tasks as required.
- Collaborate with the Accounting Manager and broader finance team on various tasks, projects, and process improvements as assigned.
- Hands-on experience with vendor invoicing and invoice processing.
- Practical experience in Accounts Payable operations.
- Experience supporting or performing intercompany postings.
- Ability to prepare accurate journal entries.
- Experience assisting with month-end procedures and reconciliations.
- Strong skills in maintaining accounting documentation and filing systems.
- Experience supporting payment runs and related processes.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel for data entry, analysis, and reporting.
- Working knowledge of general accounting principles, general ledger, and bookkeeping.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and financial records.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize work, and meet deadlines in a busy environment.
- Effective communication skills to interact with vendors and internal stakeholders.
- Experience with ERP platforms and accounting software, with SAP considered a strong asset.
- Exposure to purchase order processes and three-way matching is beneficial.
- Previous experience in a finance, accounting, or office-based role is an advantage.
- Comfort working with financial data, reconciliations, and basic financial reporting.
- Interest in developing a career in accounting or finance and gaining broader month-end and year-end exposure.
This is a full-time, onsite role based in an office environment in Hamilton, Ontario. The position requires working 40 hours per week, with a typical schedule between 8:30 or 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., including a 30-minute lunch break. The dress code is business casual. You will work on-site five days per week in a professional setting alongside a collaborative accounting and finance team. The role involves regular use of Microsoft Excel, ERP systems, and accounting software, including potential exposure to SAP, while performing a mix of computer-based tasks, document handling, and interaction with internal colleagues and external vendors.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $26.00 - $29.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
