Compensation: $48.74/hour + $2.00 shift prem on nights
Position Overview We are currently seeking an experienced 2nd Class Operating Engineer to join a well-established industrial manufacturing facility in Collingwood, Ontario.
Reporting to the Chief Operating Engineer, this position is responsible for the safe and reliable operation, maintenance, and repair of boilers, pressure vessels, compressed air systems, and reverse osmosis water systems. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining critical plant utilities while ensuring compliance with TSSA requirements and Ontario regulations.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Operating Engineer who is comfortable working independently, troubleshooting equipment, and supporting a continuous manufacturing operation.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate, monitor, maintain, and repair boilers, pressure vessels, air compressors, and associated plant utility equipment
- Monitor and control plant utilities using SCADA and computerized systems
- Ensure reliable supply of steam, compressed air, and reverse osmosis water to production
- Troubleshoot equipment and utility system issues to maintain equipment in good operating condition
- Perform routine inspections, preventative maintenance, and required repairs
- Ensure compliance with TSSA standards, the Ontario Operating Engineers Act, and Boiler and Pressure Vessels regulations
- Maintain accurate operating records and documentation
- Participate in Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) activities as required
- Support weekend and plant shutdown requirements
- Work independently on shift and respond appropriately to equipment or operational issues
- Maintain a strong focus on safety, reliability, and regulatory compliance
- Current 2nd Class Operating Engineer Certificate of Qualification from TSSA
- 5+ years of experience as a 2nd Class Operating Engineer within a large industrial or manufacturing environment
- Strong knowledge and hands-on experience with boilers and pressure vessels
- Demonstrated knowledge of applicable Ontario regulations, including the Operating Engineers Act and Boiler and Pressure Vessels Act
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting and equipment maintenance capabilities
- Strong analytical and technical skills
- Ability to work independently and safely with minimal supervision
- Ability and willingness to work 12-hour shifts, including days, nights, weekends, and statutory holidays as scheduled
- Ability to work overtime when required
- Physically capable of standing, climbing stairs and ladders, bending, kneeling, lifting, and squatting as required by the position
- Strong knowledge of air compressors and reverse osmosis systems, including operation and repair
- Experience using SCADA or other computerized plant control systems
- Strong computer and technology skills
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Experience within a continuous-process industrial or manufacturing environment
