Position Overview:
Calabrian in Timmins, ON is seeking an experienced Operations Supervisor to join their team!
What you will be doing:
- Lead, develop skills and provide direction to a team of skilled Operating Engineers
- Supervise, drive accountability and maintain a positive work environment for direct and indirect reports and area supporting groups.
- Ensure equipment is made available to be maintained and/or inspected to enable effective use of resources and delivery business objectives.
- Assures that operations personnel timely, thoroughly complete and issue operational logs and all prescribed documentation
- Issue, audit and assure personnel observe and deliver requirements defined and stablished on night notes.
- Enable and support execution of the asset Mechanical Integrity program.
- Provides support and personnel for participation in the delivery of Process Safety programs (e.g., PHA, MOC, SOP reviews, Job safety analysis, drawings updates and others).
- Responsible for providing day to day operational leadership to ensure that the facility is operated in a safe, reliable and efficient manner in compliance with all regulatory and corporate standards and programs.
- Drives the development of operational Team and procedures to operate the asset, makes recommendations for development or modification of current procedures.
- Assures all “Standard Operating Procedures” are accurate while considering safety aspects involved and write new SOP's as necessary
- Assures proposed modifications to procedures and/or practices by personnel are evaluated and implemented when applicable.
- Supervise and develop department employees by providing training, coaching and counseling through routine assignments.
- Assures the Operations department complies with Process Safety Management System.
- Responsible to keep the operations department standards and priorities ensuring uniform adherence across all shifts, emphasizing thorough communication.
- Assure incident and hazard Identification reporting occurs in a timely manner. and
- Support and provide resources when conducting incident investigations and “Root Cause Analysis” of equipment failures and in implementing changes to reduce them and prevent recurrence.
- Perform assessments and expeditiously resolve asset limitations and optimization by reviewing process data, engaging site personnel and cross business Subject Matter Experts.
- Assist with resolving reliability issues, including regular participation on teams.
- Ensure all activities under direct supervision of this position are carried out in full compliance with applicable safety and environmental laws and regulations.
- Conduct or participate in investigations of all safety, environmental, and procedure incidents in a timely manner, in compliance with applicable regulations and company policies.
- Consult with vendors to obtain product or service information, (such as price, availability, and delivery schedules).
- Other duties may be required.
Required Qualifications:
- 2nd Class Operating Engineer (preferred), 3rd class may be accepted
- Post-Secondary education in maintenance preferred
- 3+ years' experience in an industrial environment
- 3 years' supervisory experience in plant operations (preferred)
- Knowledge on preventative maintenance and related software
- Mechanical and technical aptitude
- Proven communication and inter-personal skills
- Ability to maintain accurate written records and documentation
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and organizational skills
- Strongly prefer experience relevant to sulfur derivatives such as sulfuric acid, sulfur dioxide, hydrogen sulfide, sulfonation processes, Closed processes, and related industry such as chemical manufacturing, mining, water treatment, etc.
- Position is subject to 24-hour call out. Must be able to provide support as required for a manufacturing facility operating 24/7/365, including weekends; must be able to provide scheduled periodic on-call support.
Technical skills
- Competent in the use of Microsoft and Adobe software and the ability to develop competency in the use of additional software applications as may be required.
- Ability to correctly interpret and apply SHE laws and industry regulations
- Understanding of root cause analysis and investigative processes
