Position Status

  • This is a newly created position to support the continued growth of the organization.

Compensation

  • Eligibility for base pay starting at $55,000.00 annually, plus commission and bonus eligibility based on production.

Summary/Objective

This role serves as a trusted guide for families after, during, and after the loss of a loved one. The position is responsible for helping families make informed funeral, cremation, memorialization, and pre-planning decisions while also providing meaningful aftercare support throughout the bereavement journey. The role is responsible for achieving individual sales objectives, generating referrals, maintaining a robust prospect pipeline, and delivering an exceptional customer experience throughout the arrangement and aftercare process.

Essential Functions

  • Meets with families to discuss funeral, cremation, memorialization, and celebration of life options.
  • Conducts pre-need arrangement conferences in person, virtually, and by telephone.
  • Provides consultative recommendations based on family wishes, cultural traditions, personal values, and financial considerations.
  • Presents and sells pre-arranged funeral, cremation, and memorialization products and services.
  • Educates families regarding available funding, financing, and payment options.
  • Maintains an active prospect pipeline and consistently follows up on leads and referrals through telephone inquiries, website requests, walk-ins, referrals, events, and marketing campaigns.
  • Develops referral relationships with healthcare providers, hospices, long-term care facilities, retirement residences, community organizations, faith leaders, and legal and financial professionals.
  • Participates in community outreach activities, educational seminars, and events designed to promote awareness of pre-planning benefits.
  • Maintains accurate records and documentation within company systems.
  • Maintains regular communication with families throughout the sales and arrangement process.
  • Serves as a primary point of contact for families following funeral and cremation services.
  • Works collaboratively with Funeral Directors, Administrative staff, and other departments to ensure seamless service delivery.
  • Conducts structured aftercare appointments and follow-up meetings with family members.
  • Assists families in understanding and accessing available federal, provincial, and municipal benefits.
  • Assists families in obtaining required documentation to support benefit applications and completing applicable government forms, including: Canada Pension Plan (CPP) Death Benefit applications, CPP Survivor Benefits applications, CPP Children's Benefits applications, Old Age Security notifications, Veterans Affairs benefit applications, where applicable, Provincial benefit and assistance programs.
  • Provides guidance regarding estate settlement resources and survivor responsibilities.
  • Connects families with grief support groups, bereavement resources, counseling services, faith-based organizations, and community support programs.
  • Educates families on available aftercare programs and ongoing support services.
  • Maintains professional communication with families throughout the bereavement journey.
  • Documents all aftercare interactions in accordance with company policy.
  • Represents the organization at community events, educational seminars, health fairs, and networking functions.
  • Delivers educational presentations regarding funeral planning, estate preparedness, and the importance of pre-arrangement.
  • Promotes public awareness of funeral planning and available aftercare services.
  • Ensures compliance with all provincial legislation governing funeral, cremation, cemetery, funeral funding, and consumer protection practices.
  • Maintains compliance with the Funeral, Burial and Cremation Services Act and applicable BAO regulations.
  • Completes contracts, disclosures, authorizations, funding documents, and supporting documentation accurately and timely.
  • Maintains strict confidentiality of family, financial, and company information.
  • Maintains accurate and complete documentation to support audits, licensing requirements, and regulatory compliance.
  • Maintains all required licences and continuing education requirements.
  • Adheres to ethical selling standards and consumer protection requirements at all times.
  • Achieves or exceeds established sales, revenue, activity, and performance goals.
  • Maintains strict adherence to pricing policies and company procedures.
  • Submits contracts, funding documents, payments, and required reports within established timelines.
  • Participates in ongoing training, licensing, and professional development programs.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education, Experience, Certifications and Licensure

  • High School Diploma required.
  • Valid Funeral Pre-Planner Licence or ability to obtain and maintain provincial licensing as required.
  • Minimum of two years of sales, customer service, or relationship-building experience.
  • Possession of required licences and certifications, or ability to obtain as applicable.
  • Valid state issued driver's licence in good standing and acceptable driving record.

Preferred Education, Experience, Certifications and Licensure

  • College diploma or university degree in Business, Social Services, Psychology, Communications, Marketing, Healthcare Administration, Gerontology, or a related field.
  • Experience in funeral service, bereavement support, cemetery sales, insurance, financial services, elder care, hospice care, or healthcare.
  • Proven success in consultative sales and relationship management.
  • Experience assisting individuals with government benefit programs and forms.
  • Knowledge of grief and bereavement support resources.

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

  • Ability to read, write and speak English fluently. Bilingual is a plus.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint required.

Travel
