Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Metal Fabricator to join a custom fabrication team. This role is ideal for someone who takes pride in precision craftsmanship and has experience fabricating custom structural and industrial metal products from engineering drawings.
The successful candidate will work with carbon steel, stainless steel, and other metals to fabricate a variety of custom projects using welding, cutting, fitting, grinding, and assembly techniques. The company specializes in large-scale custom fabrication with heavy lifting equipment, welding positioners, stress relieving, shot blasting, and overhead cranes, making this an excellent opportunity for skilled fabricators looking to work on complex projects.
Responsibilities
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and fabrication drawings.
- Measure, mark, cut, fit, and assemble metal components with precision.
- Perform MIG, TIG, and Flux-Core welding as required.
- Fabricate custom steel structures, heavy weldments, frames, equipment, and assemblies.
- Operate fabrication equipment including band saws, ironworkers, grinders, drill presses, and other shop machinery.
- Perform layout, tack welding, grinding, and finishing to meet quality standards.
- Inspect completed work to ensure dimensional accuracy and quality.
- Safely operate overhead cranes and forklifts (training/certification considered an asset).
- Work collaboratively with welders, machinists, and production staff to complete projects on schedule.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Follow all health and safety policies and company procedures.
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of metal fabrication experience in a manufacturing or custom fabrication environment.
- Strong ability to read blueprints and fabrication drawings.
- Experience working with structural steel, carbon steel, and stainless steel.
- Skilled in fitting, layout, measuring, and assembly.
- Experience using fabrication shop equipment and hand tools.
- Knowledge of welding symbols and fabrication tolerances.
- Ability to safely lift up to 50 lbs and work in a physically demanding environment.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality workmanship.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- CWB Welding Certification (an asset).
- Experience with heavy industrial fabrication.
- Experience operating overhead cranes or forklifts.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
