Job Description

GFL Environmental is looking for a Class 5 Rear Pack Driver to join our team in Dawson Creek, BC!

Requirements:

  • Licensing: Valid Class 5 Driver's License with a clean Driver's Abstract.

  • Driving Experience: Minimum 2 years of driving experience.

  • Equipment Operation: Demonstrated ability to safely operate collection vehicles and hydraulic systems.

  • Safety Commitment: Ability to successfully satisfy all company standards for safety-sensitive operational roles.

  • Reliability: Strong attendance record and flexibility to support early morning start schedules and operational overtime when needed.

Responsibilities:

  • Safe Fleet Operation: Operate a truck and ancillary equipment on a specified route. Maneuver truck into and out of minimum clearance spaces, using mirrors to back up.

  • Safety Inspections: Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections daily and complete required trip logs and paperwork.

  • Deliver Excellence: Open container enclosures or gates to access cans. As needed, roll bins on castors into position for dumping. Courteously interacts with customers and/or the general public along the route to answer questions or respond to requests; Notify supervisor of issues requiring management action.

  • System Operations: Operate truck and equipment using prescribed techniques to eliminate driver-induced mechanical failures.

  • Reporting & Maintenance: Complete pre-trip and post-trip safety lane inspections and reports, daily truck report, route sheets and other documentation requested by supervisor daily.

  • Service Quality: Maintain high route productivity, customer service standards, and vehicle cleanliness. Maintain accurate records of services performed.

  • Regulatory Compliance: Adhere strictly to all traffic laws, municipal bylaws, company safety policies, and required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) standards.

  • Team Collaboration: Communicate vehicle mechanical problems to supervisor immediately.

  • Additional Duties: Perform other operational duties as assigned by leadership.
