Job Summary

Our client, a well-established and growing organization within a specialized service and operations environment, is seeking an experienced Director of Operations to lead and strengthen its day-to-day operations. This senior leadership role will focus on building high-performing teams, improving operational processes, and creating greater consistency and accountability across the business. Working closely with the executive team, the Director will play a key role in translating business objectives into practical operational strategies that support continued growth, service excellence, and profitability.

The Role:

  • Provide leadership and direction to operational teams, establishing clear expectations, accountability, and performance standards across the organization.
  • Develop, coach, and mentor managers and team leaders, strengthening leadership capability and building a culture of ownership, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Evaluate existing operational processes and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, workflow, service delivery, productivity, and overall business performance.
  • Establish and monitor key operational metrics and reporting to provide greater visibility into performance, capacity, quality, and areas requiring improvement.
  • Lead the implementation and standardization of processes, procedures, and best practices across operational functions.
  • Partner closely with senior leadership to translate strategic priorities and growth objectives into scalable operational plans.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with sales, finance, customer service, and other business functions to improve communication, coordination, and the overall customer experience.
  • Ensure appropriate workforce planning, scheduling, resource allocation, and operational capacity to meet changing business demands.
  • Identify operational bottlenecks and recurring challenges, addressing root causes and implementing sustainable solutions rather than short-term fixes.
  • Support organizational change and growth initiatives, ensuring new processes and expectations are effectively communicated, adopted, and maintained.
  • Foster a safety-conscious, solutions-oriented environment while ensuring appropriate operational policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements are consistently followed.
  • Manage operational budgets and resources with a focus on balancing service levels, productivity, cost control, and long-term business objectives.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Brings progressive operations leadership experience, including responsibility for leading managers and multi-functional operational teams.
  • Has demonstrated success improving processes, introducing structure, and increasing accountability within a growing or evolving organization.
  • Is a strong people leader who can coach and develop others while confidently addressing performance issues and maintaining high standards.
  • Demonstrates a practical understanding of operational workflows, resource planning, service delivery, and performance management.
  • Uses data and operational metrics to identify trends, diagnose issues, and make informed business decisions.
  • Has experience leading process improvement or operational transformation initiatives from assessment through implementation.
  • Communicates effectively across all levels of an organization and is comfortable partnering closely with both frontline teams and senior leadership.
  • Brings strong business and financial acumen, with an understanding of how operational decisions impact profitability, customer experience, and organizational growth.
  • Thrives in a fast-paced environment where priorities can shift and where effective leadership requires both strategic thinking and hands-on problem solving.
  • Is an adaptable, accountable leader who can bring structure without unnecessary bureaucracy and build credibility with teams through consistency, sound judgment, and follow-through.
