Join Our Team as an Junior Automation Electrical Designer!
Location: Ancaster, Ontario, Canada (onsite)
Salary Range: 75K-90K CAD annually
Vacancy Type: Existing Position
Schedule: Full‑time
Shift: Day Shift
As our next Junior Electrical Designer, you will be responsible for supporting the design and development of electrical control systems for automated manufacturing equipment and assembly lines. Working under the guidance of senior team members, the Junior Electrical Designer will create electrical schematics, BOMs, and documentation while developing expertise in industrial automation technologies, machine safety, and applicable Canadian standards.
Your experience with EPLAN, industrial controls, and hands‑on troubleshooting will contribute to the successful delivery of automation projects across the organization.

What You'll Be Doing:
- Assist in the design and development of electrical control systems for custom automation equipment.
- Create and revise electrical schematics using EPLAN or similar electrical CAD software.
- Generate bills of materials (BOMs), wire lists, and panel layouts.
- Support machine safety risk assessments and implementation of safeguarding devices.
- Prepare and maintain engineering documentation packages.
- Participate in equipment commissioning and startup activities.
- Support troubleshooting activities during build and installation phases.
- Ensure designs comply with:
- Ontario Occupational Health & Safety Act (OHSA)
- CSA standards
- Electrical Safety Code requirements
- Company engineering standards
- Collaborate with Mechanical Designers, Controls Engineers, and Project Managers.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
What We're Looking For:
- College diploma or university degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, Mechatronics, Automation, or related discipline.
- 0 -3 years of electrical design experience in industrial automation, if completed formal education (Intern/Co-op) in this field in the last 12 months
- Familiarity with electrical drafting software (EPLAN preferred).
- Basic understanding of PLCs, sensors, relays, and industrial control systems.
- Knowledge of machine safety principles is considered an asset.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
