Construction Estimator

WE'RE HIRING: CONSTRUCTION ESTIMATOR

Maxx Contracting is looking for an experienced Construction Estimator to join our team!

Location: Nanaimo, BC — in person
Position: Full-time
Wage: $35–$50 per hour, based on experience

The successful candidate will prepare residential and commercial estimates ranging from approximately $2,500 to $500,000.

Primary projects include:

• Excavation and retaining walls
• Civil excavation
• Hardscaping and softscaping
• Drainage improvements
• Decks and fencing
• Playground installations

Responsibilities include:

• Meeting with residential and commercial clients
• Reviewing project plans, specifications, and scopes of work
• Preparing detailed estimates for labour, materials, equipment, and subcontractors
• Completing quantity takeoffs and cost analyses
• Requesting and reviewing supplier and subcontractor pricing
• Attending site visits and pre-bid meetings
• Preparing bid packages and submitting proposals on time
• Assisting with budgets and change-order pricing

Qualifications:

• At least three years of construction estimating experience preferred
• Strong knowledge of construction methods and materials
• Ability to read construction drawings and specifications
• Experience using estimating and takeoff software
• Strong mathematical, communication, and organizational skills
• Excellent attention to detail and time management
