- Review customer RFQs, engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation
- Develop detailed cost estimates for machining, fabrication, welding, assembly, and engineered systems
- Estimate labour, machine time, materials, tooling, outside processing, inspection, testing, packaging, and shipping
- Prepare accurate quotations and pricing summaries
- Determine manufacturing methods and identify cost-saving opportunities
- Obtain and evaluate quotes from material suppliers and subcontractors
- Work with Engineering, Production, Purchasing, Quality, Sales, and Project teams to validate estimates
- Support proposal reviews, bid strategy meetings, and customer discussions
- Analyze historical project costs to improve estimating accuracy
- Maintain estimating databases and costing templates
- Track estimate accuracy against actual project costs and support continuous improvement initiatives
- Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related discipline, or equivalent manufacturing experience
- Minimum 3 years of estimating experience in manufacturing, fabrication, machining, or heavy industrial projects
- Strong understanding of machining, welding, fabrication, and manufacturing processes
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and technical specifications
- Strong mathematical, analytical, and organizational skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple quotations simultaneously
- Experience with CNC machining, custom tooling, weldments, pressure vessels, or specialty alloys is an asset
- Knowledge of ASME Codes, CSA standards, ISO 9001, CWB, N299, or Controlled Goods Program requirements is an asset
- Experience with ERP/MRP systems, Microsoft Excel, and estimating software is an asset
