Forklift Operator / General Labourer (Non-Ferrous)

Our client is currently seeking 4 Certified Forklift Operators / General Labourers to join their team. This role is ideal for candidates who enjoy hands-on work in a fast-paced industrial environment and are comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions. The successful candidates will assist with daily yard operations including material sorting, inspections, equipment operation, and customer service.

• Pay Rate: $20.00 to $22.00 per hour (DOE)
• Probation Period: 3 months, with opportunity for permanent hire after successful completion
• Schedule:
  • Monday: 6:00 AM – 4:30 PM
  • Tuesday to Friday: 6:00 AM – 3:00 PM
  • Afternoon Shift Available: 11:00 AM – 8:00 PM
• Please note shifts may occasionally extend until approximately 9:00 PM – 9:15 PM depending on operational needs
• Closed on weekends
• Location: Concord, Ontario

• Operate counterbalance forklifts (electric and propane) safely and efficiently
• Assist customers and contractors with unloading materials
• Inspect incoming scrap materials to ensure conformity requirements are met
• Sort and process non-ferrous scrap metals
• Perform commodity-specific material breakdowns during processing
• Segregate non-conforming materials into designated containers or areas
• Enter material weights and grades into the system accurately
• Assist with maintaining safe traffic flow within the yard
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the yard and work areas
• Operate equipment such as forklifts and skid-steers as directed
• Communicate effectively with drivers, contractors, customers, and team members
• Follow all health and safety procedures
• Perform additional duties as assigned

• Valid Counterbalance Forklift Certification required
• Previous experience operating counterbalance forklifts (electric and propane)
• Experience operating skid-steer equipment is considered an asset
• Previous experience working outdoors in industrial or yard environments preferred
• Knowledge of metal or scrap materials is considered an asset
• Basic computer skills for data entry and processing

This position is based in a busy outdoor yard environment with regular interaction with coworkers, customers, contractors, and drivers. The role involves working in varying weather conditions and may include exposure to noise, moving equipment, and heavy materials.

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
• Frequent bending, lifting, reaching, pushing, and pulling
• Ability to climb ladders, stairs, trucks, and bins when required
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
• Comfortable performing physically demanding work in an outdoor environment
