About the Role: This leadership role oversees the residence's overall operations, ensuring exceptional resident care, service quality, safety, and satisfaction. The position leads the team, manages staffing, budgets, occupancy, resident relations, regulatory compliance, and communication with Head Office. The role also oversees resident care, supports continuous improvement initiatives, and ensures the residence operates efficiently while maintaining a welcoming, respectful, resident-focused environment.
Compensation: $75K to 85K

Role Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and oversee day-to-day site operations, including resident services, hospitality, culinary services, sales, staffing, resident relations, and administrative functions.
  • Lead, mentor, and support team members while participating in recruitment, performance management, employee development, and other human resource matters.
  • Ensure programs and services respond to changing resident needs and are delivered in accordance with organizational policies, performance standards, regulatory requirements, and applicable legislation.
  • Develop, administer, and monitor the residence operating budget, including expense management, purchasing, ancillary revenue opportunities, and initiatives to support full occupancy.
  • Manage and perform sales and occupancy activities, including prospective resident and family tours, move-ins, transfers, and move-outs.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between the residence and Head Office, communicating significant developments, operational issues, risks, and required actions in a timely manner.
  • Prepare and provide regular operational, financial, occupancy, staffing, and performance reports to Head Office and senior leadership.
  • Provide leadership and clinical guidance related to resident care and, where required, deliver professional nursing care in accordance with established Resident Care Plans and applicable standards of practice.
  • Ensure resident electronic and health records are accurate, complete, confidential, and appropriately maintained.
  • Promote and protect resident rights, including privacy, dignity, respect, choice, and independence.
  • Participate in decisions and initiatives related to resident care, health and safety, quality improvement, education, risk management, and human resources.
  • Act as the site lead and first responder during resident, operational, or building emergencies, ensuring appropriate escalation and follow-up.
  • Foster continuous improvement by identifying opportunities for new programs, service enhancements, operational efficiencies, and improved resident and family experiences.
  • Participate in resident meetings and maintain effective communication with residents, families, employees, and community partners.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the President or designate.

Necessary Education and Experience:

  • High school graduation.
  • A post-secondary education preferred; Must have prior experience working with both union and non-union employees.
  • Must have a proficient understanding of financial statements.
  • Experience in effectively managing a Retirement Living Residence.

Skills for Success:

  • Prior experience in independent or senior living is highly preferred
  • Advanced interpersonal communication skills.
  • High computer literacy with MS Office software. Computer proficient and familiar with ADP Payroll and Scheduling, PointClickCare
  • Strong sales and business development background
  • Excellent communication skills and English proficiency.
