Position: Construction Safety Officer

We are currently looking for a Construction Safety Officer to assist our construction team in Revelstoke. The successful candidate will be an individual with a flexible schedule to work with our team on multiple civil construction projects throughout British Columbia. The right candidate will have the training and confidence to aid the construction team in projects.
Expectations
- Conduct daily site safety inspections and hazard assessments across active construction projects.
- Deliver toolbox talks, safety orientations, and job-specific safety training to crews and subcontractors.
- Investigate incidents, near misses, and safety concerns, and complete all required documentation and follow-up actions.
- Maintain and audit compliance with Speers' COR safety program and the WorkSafeBC Occupational Health and Safety Regulation.
- Complete and maintain accurate safety records in SiteDocs, including inspections, orientations, and job hazard assessments.
- Act as an on-site first aid attendant, providing first aid response and maintaining first aid supplies and records.
- Support supervisors and foremen in developing and reviewing Safe Job Procedures (SJPs) and Safe Work Practices (SWPs).
- Liaise with project owners, regulators, and subcontractors on safety matters and site compliance.
- Participate in internal safety audits and support continuous improvement of the safety program.
- Travel regularly to project sites throughout British Columbia, based out of the Revelstoke office.
Qualifications
- Valid OFA Level 3 certification (required).
- Minimum 2–3 years of experience in a construction safety role; heavy civil, mining, hydro, forestry, or railway experience is an asset.
- Working knowledge of the WorkSafeBC Occupational Health and Safety Regulation and COR program requirements.
- Valid Class 5 driver's license and a clean driving record.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to coach and mentor crews on safe work practices.
- Experience with SiteDocs or similar safety management software is an asset.
- Additional tickets such as WHMIS, Ground Disturbance, and Traffic Control are an asset.
- Willingness and ability to travel to project sites across British Columbia and occasionally Alberta.
- Physically able to work outdoors in all weather conditions and on active construction sites.
Wage
$35–$45 per hour, based on experience.
