ACCOUNTABILITY STATEMENT:
The Business Intelligence & Reporting Analyst plays a critical role in delivering actionable, data-driven insights that support network planning, regulatory compliance, operational efficiency, and customer experience improvements at Ontario Northland. This role ensures that decisions are backed by comprehensive, accurate, and timely data, helping to optimize transportation services and align with strategic objectives. The Analyst works closely with Network Planning, Operations, and Compliance teams to develop reports, predictive models, and forecasting tools that drive informed decision-making.
MAJOR DUTIES/ RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Collect, integrate, validate, and maintain internal and external data sources to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and reliability.
  • Analyze complex datasets to identify trends, patterns, risks, and opportunities that support strategic planning, operational performance, and informed decision-making.
  • Design, develop, and maintain reports, dashboards and scorecards that provide timely and actionable insights to stakeholders.
  • Monitor, measure, and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate operational effectiveness, service delivery, compliance, and business performance.
  • Conduct ad-hoc analyses, forecasting, scenario modeling, and performance assessments to support business initiatives and operational planning.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand reporting requirements, define success measures, and deliver data-driven solutions that meet departmental objectives.
  • Translate complex analytical findings into clear, meaningful insights and recommendations for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ensure reporting processes, methodologies, and outputs comply with organizational policies, regulatory requirements, and data governance standards.
  • Identify, recommend, and implement opportunities to improve data quality, automate reporting processes, and enhance operational efficiency.
  • Develop and maintain documentation, including data definitions, reporting methodologies, business rules, and process standards to support consistency and knowledge sharing.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to support system enhancements, reporting initiatives, data integration projects, and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Ensure analytics and reporting solutions align with organizational priorities, project objectives, and underlying system structures.
  • Promote a culture of data literacy, continuous improvement, and evidence-based decision-making across the organization.
  • Adhere to organizational health, safety, and compliance requirements while performing all responsibilities.
REQUIREMENTS:
  • College diploma in Mathematics, Statistics, Information Technology, Business Analytics, Transportation Planning, Data Science, or Computer Science.
  • Certification in data and reporting tools such as Power BI is required.
  • 3+ years' experience as a data analyst or business intelligence analyst
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience and demonstrated proficiency with the following tools: R or Python, Microsoft Power BI, Microsoft Fabric, SharePoint, Excel, and Google Analytics.
  • Experience using SQL for data querying and analysis is preferred
  • Proficiency in data analysis techniques to interpret large datasets, identify trends, and extract actionable insights.
  • Experience with marketing campaign analysis and performance measurement.
  • Familiarity with agile methodologies and solution design practices.
  • Solid understanding of predictive modeling, demand forecasting, and performance analytics.
  • Experience with regulatory compliance and transportation policy reporting is an asset
  • Ability to translate complex data into actionable business insights and communicate findings clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Focus on process automation and improving operational efficiency.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills with attention to detail.
  • Commitment to health and safety.
