As a Shipper / Dispatcher at Payzant, you'll be at the center of our operations, ensuring building materials get where they need to besafely, accurately, and on time. From coordinating everyday deliveries to planning specialized shipments like drywall and roof trusses, you'll play a key role in delivering the exceptional service our customers depend on.

Working closely with drivers, yard associates, and sales teams, you'll organize schedules, prioritize orders, and use technology to keep deliveries running efficiently. Your attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and commitment to safety will help ensure every load leaves the yard ready for success.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Delivery Coordination

  • Collaborate closely with the logistics team to plan and coordinate daily delivery schedules.
  • Pre-plan shipments and adjust schedules to maximize productivity.
  • Monitor the routes and status of deliveries to optimize daily schedules and ensure timely customer service.
  • Setup and dispatch pick orders systematically to ensure efficient operations by warehouse pickers.

Technology Proficiency

  • Utilize shipping and office technology effectively, including DDMS, Microsoft Outlook, and Motive, to enhance operational efficiency.

Support and Communication

  • Maintain clear communication with drivers, customers, and the logistics team to provide updates and resolve issues during deliveries.
  • Prioritize calls/e-mails based on urgency and ensuring timely responses.

Team Collaboration

  • Work closely with the sales and retail teams to coordinate, track, and communicate order fulfillment activities.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure a seamless and coordinated approach to order fulfillment.

Inventory Management

  • Monitor inventory levels to ensure adequate stock is available for shipments.
  • Address any discrepancies in inventory with appropriate members of the team.

Problem Resolution

  • Proactively address delays, damages, or issues with backordered items by collaborating with sales and purchasing teams to find solutions and communicate alternatives.

Documentation:

  • Assist in preparing and verifying shipping documents such as bills, invoices, and delivery schedules.
  • Maintain necessary documentation and provide regular reports on shipping activities and challenges to management.

Health and Safety

  • Work in compliance with laws and regulations, attend and complete all required health and safety training, report all accidents, and take every precaution reasonable to ensure personal safety and the safety of others.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in logistics or supply management considered a significant asset.
  • Strong organization and planning skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
