Job Summary
Cedarglen Homes is looking for a detail-oriented and motivated Junior Estimator to join our Estimating Team. This role is a great opportunity for someone with a keen interest in the residential home building process who is looking to grow their career within an established and industry-leading home builder.
As a member of the Estimating Team, the Junior Estimator will support the review and communication of job-specific information, assist with calculating and managing job costs, and help coordinate information with trades, suppliers, and internal departments. The successful candidate will be highly organized, analytical, and comfortable working both independently and as part of an integrated team.
Responsibilities
- Review and communicate job-specific information to trades, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
- Assist with calculating, tracking, and managing job costs throughout the estimating process.
- Receive, review, and assess vendor and trade project bids.
- Support the preparation and maintenance of accurate estimating documentation.
- Communicate clearly with internal teams, trades, and suppliers to ensure information is accurate and timely.
- Identify and help resolve discrepancies, questions, or issues related to estimates, bids, and job files.
- Support continuous improvement within the estimating process through strong attention to detail and analytical thinking.
- Work collaboratively with other departments while managing individual tasks with minimal supervision.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of construction estimating experience preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while also contributing to a team environment.
- High sense of urgency and ability to manage competing priorities.
- Experience with data analysis, negotiation, or vendor/trade communication considered an asset.
- Post-secondary education considered an asset.
- Proficiency with computers and software systems considered an asset.
