Assistant Project Manager — Construction
About the Opportunity:
Our client is a well-established and growing construction organization with a strong reputation for delivering high-quality commercial, institutional, industrial, and residential projects. They are seeking an Assistant Project Manager to join their project team and support the successful delivery of complex construction projects from pre-construction through completion.

Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the Project Manager with the overall planning, coordination, and execution of construction projects
- Support project schedules, budgets, forecasts, and cost control processes
- Coordinate with consultants, architects, engineers, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams
- Review drawings, specifications, contracts, change orders, RFIs, and project documentation
- Assist with tendering, procurement, subcontractor negotiations, and contract administration
- Track project progress and identify potential schedule, cost, and scope issues
- Prepare and maintain project reports, meeting minutes, schedules, and documentation
- Assist with the preparation and review of project budgets, progress claims, purchase orders, and change orders
- Participate in project meetings and maintain strong communication with clients and project stakeholders
- Conduct site visits and work closely with site teams to ensure project requirements are being met
- Assist with quality control, safety requirements, and compliance with project specifications
- Help resolve project issues and coordinate solutions between internal and external stakeholders
- Support project closeout, deficiency management, turnover, and warranty processes
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience in construction project coordination, project management, or a related role
- Experience working on commercial, institutional, industrial, or large-scale construction projects
- Post-secondary education in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architectural Technology, or a related discipline is preferred
- Strong understanding of construction processes, contracts, scheduling, and project documentation
- Experience reviewing drawings, specifications, RFIs, change orders, and subcontracts
- Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving ability
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word
- Experience with construction management/project management software is an asset
- Ability to work collaboratively with project teams, consultants, trades, and clients
