Estimator/CAD Technician

Position Summary

Our client is seeking a detail-oriented and organized Estimator / CAD Technician to join their team. This role is responsible for:

• Reviewing customer RFQs/RFPs
• Interpreting technical drawings and Bills of Materials (BOMs)
• Preparing accurate estimates and quotations
• Coordinating with purchasing and production to ensure successful project execution

A strong understanding of manufacturing materials, material specifications, and BOM structures is essential for success in this position. The successful candidate will be responsible for:

• Identifying material types, grades, specifications, and manufacturing numbering systems
• Accurately determining project requirements
• Developing reliable quotations

The successful candidate will work approximately 70% of the time in Guelph and 30% in Fergus, as required, and will report primarily to the President.

Key Responsibilities

• Receive and review customer RFQs/RFPs
• Read and interpret customer drawings, specifications, and Bills of Materials (BOMs)
• Convert customer drawings into CAD working drawings
• Create, review, and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs)
• Identify and verify material types, grades, specifications, and part numbering systems used in manufacturing documentation
• Prepare accurate project quotations and cost estimates based on drawings, BOMs, material requirements, and manufacturing processes
• Collaborate with the purchasing department to determine material requirements and priorities
