Term of App't: Sep - Dec 2026 (192 hours total / 96 hours each)Start date: September 1, 2026Reporting to: Dean, Academics Salary:$50.07 - $56.75/hr, depending on experience and qualifications as per the BCGEU Faculty Collective Agreement. Temporary employees receive an additional 2% in lieu of benefits, 6% vacation and 4.2% statutory holiday pay included with each pay.Sessional faculty have the opportunity to contribute to the College Pension Plan, with additional contributions made by the Employer. Description:NLC requires one sessional instructor(s) to teach one or both of the sections as indicated below – with each contract consisting of approx. 96 hours. The course delivery will be on one campus with additional hours for travel to the other (videoconference to take place during the class).English 100 – Academic Writing - This course introduces students to university-level academic writing across the disciplines, reflecting the kinds of written communication that occur in the humanities, social sciences, and/or natural sciences and leads to a greater understanding of the practices and voices that characterize academic communities. Writing and scholarly research skills may include critical summaries, literature and article reviews, academic proposals, annotated bibliographies, and final research essays. (FRI, 1:15 – 4:10pm) English 110 - Intro to Workplace Communications - this course introduces students to professional and interpersonal communication in the workplace. Students will learn to organize information, write clearly and persuasively, and adapt messages for different audiences and situations. Assignments include business letters, memoranda, resumes, cover letters, presentations, bibliographies, and reports. (Tu/Th, 1:15 – 2:40pm) **Class instruction will begin on September 9, 2026 (start date will allow for prep prior to the first class).Qualifications: Required:Master's Degree in Communications, Linguistics, or a closely related discipline.Excellent English written and verbal communication skills.A commitment to engaging diverse learners through various forms of delivery Ability to function effectively as a team member through a collaborative approach.Preferred:PhD in aclosely related discipline.TESOL certificate an assetOne North American post-secondary degree, preferably the terminal degree.The Provincial Instructor Diploma Program, or an equivalent credential in adult education.Experience instructing a culturally diverse group of students, including Indigenous and international students.Experience utilizing Learning management systems such as D2L and other forms of technology to assist in course delivery is considered an asset.We thank all applicants for their interest in employment with NLC; however, only those contacted for an interview will be acknowledged.
