The Shipper/Receiver is responsible for accurately receiving, inspecting, organizing, picking, packing, and shipping products. This role ensures that incoming and outgoing materials are handled safely and efficiently while maintaining accurate inventory and supporting timely customer deliveries.
The successful candidate is organized, dependable, and comfortable working in a fast-paced warehouse environment. The Shipper/Receiver will work closely with the warehouse and counter sales teams to ensure orders are prepared accurately and customers receive the right products on time.
Duties and Responsibilities
Receiving
- Receive incoming shipments and verify products against purchase orders, packing slips, and system records.
- Inspect products for quantity, quality, and visible damage and report discrepancies promptly.
- Unload incoming materials using appropriate equipment and safe material-handling practices.
- Label, stage, and put away received products in the appropriate warehouse locations.
- Ensure products are stored securely and in a manner that supports efficient inventory management.
- Maintain accurate receiving documentation and enter information into the appropriate systems.
Shipping & Order Fulfillment
- Pick and prepare customer orders accurately and efficiently based on sales orders and picking tickets.
- Verify products, quantities, and order details before shipment.
- Package and secure materials appropriately to prevent damage during transportation.
- Prepare orders for customer pickup, local delivery, and courier shipments.
- Load delivery vehicles safely and ensure materials are properly secured.
- Coordinate with drivers and warehouse staff regarding delivery schedules and priorities.
- Process returns, transfers, and other warehouse transactions as required.
Warehouse Operations
- Maintain an organized, clean, and safe warehouse environment.
- Locate, move, and stage plumbing, HVAC, and other wholesale products throughout the warehouse.
- Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material-handling equipment safely, where trained and authorized.
- Assist with inventory counts and investigate discrepancies when required.
- Follow proper procedures for handling large, heavy, fragile, or specialized materials.
- Ensure products are stored according to company procedures and manufacturer requirements.
- Assist with maintaining accurate product locations and warehouse organization.
Safety & Compliance
- Follow all company health and safety policies and procedures.
- Use required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Follow proper lifting and material-handling techniques.
- Report hazards, damaged products, equipment concerns, and workplace incidents promptly.
- Follow WHMIS and other applicable workplace safety requirements.
- Maintain safe access to warehouse aisles, exits, loading areas, and emergency equipment.
Customer & Team Support
- Provide professional and helpful service to customers picking up orders.
- Assist Counter Sales and other branch employees in locating and preparing products.
- Communicate effectively with drivers, sales representatives, purchasing, and warehouse team members.
- Support overall branch operations by assisting with other warehouse duties as required.
Mandatory Requirements
- Years of Experience: 3+
Software/System Experience: Microsoft Office 365 and ability to learn inventory/warehouse management systems- Skills and Abilities:
- Demonstrated business acumen and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline driven fast paced environment
