Operating in a Northern British Columbia mining environment on a two week in/two week out shift rotation, the Project Geologist (Underground) is a key employee involved in the geology functions at the Silvertip Operation. An active interest in geology and exploration, solid work ethics, regular attendance, and punctuality are essential requirements for this position.

Responsibilities may include:

  • Planning and supervising underground drilling programs;
  • Underground structural, geological and geotechnical mapping and sampling;
  • Complete accurate core logging and sampling as required;
  • Oversee and review the work of more early career team members to ensure accuracy and consistency, provide mentorship and training as required;
  • Create and communicate results and progress through presentations and written reports;
  • Perform pre-operational checks, operate equipment and perform all job functions according to Safe Operating procedures;
  • Assist with surface exploration programs as required;
  • Work with Mine Operations and Technical Services departments to accomplish shared objectives;
  • Accomplish other tasks within his/her area of expertise as requested.

Required Qualifications & Skills:

  • B.Sc. Geology or Geoscience;
  • Minimum of five (5) years mining or exploration experience;
  • Experience with underground diamond drilling programs;
  • Experience in CRD-skarn-porphyry or structurally-controlled deposits is considered an asset;
  • Working knowledge of 3D software (Leapfrog or similar), Acquire and word processing and spreadsheet programs;
  • Registered or eligible for PGeo registration with EGBC;
  • Valid driver's license;
  • Capable of driving and navigating underground;
  • Familiarity with digital underground geological mapping is an asset;
  • Familiarity with geotechnical logging and underground mapping is an asset;
  • Physically fit to perform the duties of the position;
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada.

Additional Information:

  • Willing to work a two week on/off schedule, working 12 hours per day at a remote mine camp.
  • Eligible for Annual Bonus.
  • Our current designated marshalling locations are Vancouver, Kelowna, Nanaimo, Calgary, Edmonton, Whitehorse, Teslin, and Watson Lake.
