Cost Analyst (Contract)

Are you an accounting professional looking for an opportunity to expand your experience in cost accounting and business partnering? Our client is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Cost Analyst to join their finance team on a contract basis. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with operational stakeholders, support budgeting and month-end activities.
Your success will be defined by your ability to:
- Prepare month-end journal entries, accruals, and supporting working papers
- Analyze and monitor departmental costs, providing meaningful financial insights to business leaders
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis activities as required
- Meet directly with department managers to review financial results and explain cost trends
- Prepare reports, presentations, and supporting documentation for finance and operational stakeholders
- Assist with invoice preparation, cost allocations, and other accounting-related activities
- 2-3+ years of accounting or finance experience, ideally with some exposure to cost accounting
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to work directly with non-finance stakeholders
- A self-starting personality with strong initiative and problem-solving abilities
- An eagerness to learn and grow within a collaborative finance team
- Experience with Dynamics AX, Dynamics 365, or similar ERP systems is considered an asset
