Position Title: Landfill Equipment Operator

Role Type: Permanent/ Local Position (Non-Camp/Non-FIFO)

Location: Suncor Base Plant, Fort McMurray, Alberta

Work Schedule: 7 days on, 7 days off; 12-hour day shifts

• Operate various equipment including; excavator, wheel loader, bulldozer and waste compactor.

• Complete pre-trip and post-trip inspections on heavy equipment.

• Inspect and clear equipment of debris, mud, and waste that may get stuck in the tracks, grousers, wheels and rollers.

• Perform area maintenance duties such as but not limited to; minor repairs to roads/pads, snow removal and litter pick up.

• Receive and sort waste and wood for disposal, prepare for removal from landfill.

• Monitor incoming waste for non-compliance items, such as metal, HD pipe, chemicals, etc.

• Maintain and monitor lift levels.

• Communicate with leadership any delays, potential hazards, accidents, equipment breakdowns and/or maintenance concerns.

• Comply with all Acden and client company safety procedures and policies.

• Minimum Valid Class Five (5) License is required.

• Must have three (3) or more years of experience operating excavator and loader.

• If selected for an interview, you are required to submit a 5-year drivers' abstract that is not more than 30 days old.

• Successfully passing comprehensive pre-employment Drug, Alcohol, Hearing, Visual and Physical Abilities Testing is required.

• Valid Common Safety Orientation (CSO) or equivalent is required.

• Must be eligible to acquire access to all Acden client sites as required by the position.

• Strong attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, and “safety-first” attitude is required.

• Ability to work cohesively in a team environment and independently is required.

• Class Three (3) license with airbrake endorsement is considered an asset.

• Experience operating a bulldozer and/or compactor is considered an asset.

• Previous experience in landfill/recycling operations is an asset.

• Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA) Certificate in Landfill Operation Basics is considered an asset.
