Commercial Estimator

Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Concrete Estimator to join our team and play a key role in securing and delivering profitable projects. This position is ideal for a motivated professional who can independently manage the estimating process from tender review through project award.

Position Overview

As a Senior Concrete Estimator, you will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive estimates for commercial concrete projects. You will analyze drawings and specifications, perform detailed quantity takeoffs, obtain supplier and subcontractor pricing, and prepare complete bid submissions.

The successful candidate must have previous estimating experience within the construction industry and be capable of pricing projects independently with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities

• Review drawings, specifications, addenda, and tender documents
• Perform detailed quantity takeoffs for concrete, labour, equipment, and subcontracted work
• Prepare accurate cost estimates and competitive bid submissions
• Solicit and evaluate pricing from suppliers and subcontractors
• Identify project risks, scope gaps, and value engineering opportunities
• Maintain and track bid opportunities, tender results, and awarded projects
• Collaborate with operations and project management teams during project handoff
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cost database development

Qualifications

Required:

• Minimum 2 years of estimating experience in concrete construction or a closely related construction trade
• Proven ability to independently prepare and submit estimates for commercial construction projects
• Strong understanding of commercial concrete construction methods
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and contract documents
• Experience with quantity takeoffs and bid preparation
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office
• Strong organizational, communication, and time management skills

Preferred

• Experience with industrial, institutional, multi-residential, or large-scale commercial concrete projects
• Experience using Bluebeam, PlanSwift, or similar estimating software

Compensation

• Starting salary of $70,000+ per year, based on experience and qualifications

Schedule

• 40 hours per week
• Monday to Friday
• In-office
• Additional hours may be required during peak tender periods
