HVAC Helper

Modern Air Heating & Cooling is looking for a motivated and dependable HVAC Helper / Installation Technician to join our growing team. This is a hands on position working alongside experienced HVAC technicians installing, servicing, and maintaining residential heating and cooling systems.

The majority of this role will involve assisting with the installation of gas furnaces, central air conditioners, ductless and ducted heat pumps, and related HVAC equipment. The position will also include service, maintenance, and repair work involving fireplaces, gas water heaters, tankless water heaters, pool heaters, garage heaters, and gas piping systems.

The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, takes pride in quality workmanship, and has a strong desire to continue developing their skills within the HVAC industry. This position requires a minimum G3 Gas Technician licence. Previous HVAC installation and service experience is considered a strong asset.

Responsibilities

• Assist HVAC technicians with the installation, maintenance, and repair of residential heating and cooling systems.
• Install and service gas-fired equipment including furnaces, fireplaces, water heaters, pool heaters, garage heaters, and related gas piping.
• Assist with the installation of central air conditioners, heat pumps, air handlers, and other HVAC equipment.
• Perform preventative maintenance and assist with troubleshooting and diagnostics.
• Assist with ductwork modifications, sheet metal fabrication, venting, refrigerant piping, condensate drainage, and equipment start-ups.
• Read and interpret equipment manuals, installation instructions, schematics, and mechanical drawings.
• Ensure all work is completed safely and meets company quality standards.
• Maintain a clean and organized work vehicle, tools, and job sites.
• Communicate professionally with customers while working in residential environments.
• Support construction-related activities associated with HVAC installations.

Qualifications Required

• Minimum G3 Gas Technician licence (Ontario).
• Valid Ontario G driver's licence with a clean driving record.
• Must have your own basic hand tools.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn.
• Strong work ethic, reliability, and punctuality.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Professional attitude and attention to detail.
• Ability to lift heavy equipment and work in various environments, including attics, crawl spaces, and outdoors.

Assets

• G2 Gas Technician licence.
• Previous HVAC installation or service experience.
• Experience with furnaces, air conditioners, heat pumps, fireplaces, water heaters, and gas piping.
• Experience in construction, plumbing, appliance repair, electrical, or mechanical trades.
• Experience reading blueprints, schematics, or technical drawings.
• ODP certification.
• Working at Heights certification.
• Sheet metal fabrication or welding experience.
