Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Upholstery Technician to join our production team. In this role, you will be responsible for foam preparation, upholstery installation, quality inspection, and supporting various production activities. The ideal candidate has experience working in a manufacturing environment, takes pride in producing high-quality workmanship, and is committed to meeting production and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
Foam Preparation
Install piping material to stool seats prior to foam application.
Cut and prepare foam components according to production specifications.
Apply contact adhesive to bond foam to various substrates, ensuring complete and even coverage.
Align foam accurately with substrates to meet quality standards.
Allow foam assemblies to cure for the required time before transferring to upholstery.
Store completed sub-assemblies in designated bin locations.
Receive sewn fabric covers from the Sewing Department and verify components against work orders and production schedules.
Inspect fabric covers for defects and return any non-conforming materials to the Sewing Department.
Install vinyl and fabric covers onto prepared assemblies using pneumatic staple guns.
Ensure upholstery is neat and free of wrinkles, gaps, scratches, lumps, marks, or excess fabric.
Perform quality inspections on completed upholstered components before transferring them to Assembly.
Label completed components accurately before releasing them to the Assembly Department.
Meet daily and weekly production targets.
Follow all Standard Production Procedures (SPPs) and work instructions.
Assist other production departments, including Cutting, Sewing, and Assembly, as required.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
Report quality issues, equipment malfunctions, or material defects promptly to the Production Supervisor.
Operate tools and equipment safely and return them to designated storage after use.
Follow all company policies regarding safety, attendance, workplace conduct, and break schedules.
Previous experience in upholstery, furniture manufacturing, automotive upholstery, or a similar production environment is preferred.
Experience using pneumatic staple guns and hand tools is an asset.
Ability to read and follow work orders, production schedules, and standard operating procedures.
Strong attention to detail with a commitment to producing high-quality work.
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
Reliable, punctual, and a team player.
Ability to lift materials and perform repetitive physical tasks as required.
