Détails de l'emploi :
Mining has been central to the company's success for decades. Its innovative mechanical systems have become the preferred solution for surface and underground mining operations worldwide, supporting major projects across copper, gold, lithium, nickel, potash, iron ore, uranium, and critical minerals. Designed for the harshest operating environments, these engineered solutions improve safety, accelerate installation, simplify maintenance, and reduce total lifecycle costs for mining operations.
Reporting to the Director of Business Development, this is an outstanding opportunity for an experienced engineer or mining professional who enjoys influencing major capital projects before construction begins. Working directly with mine owners, EPCM organizations, consulting engineers, and project teams, you will establish strategic relationships that position the company's engineered solutions as the preferred choice throughout every stage of the project lifecycle.
Success in this highly consultative role comes from understanding mining operations, engaging project stakeholders early, influencing engineering decisions, and demonstrating how innovative technologies improve constructability, reduce project risk, and deliver long-term operational value.
You will be responsible for driving business development and engineering specification activities across Western Canada's mining sector. Rather than pursuing transactional sales opportunities, you will engage with mine owners, EPCM firms, consulting engineers, and project stakeholders early in the engineering process, helping influence specifications and supporting projects from concept through commissioning.
Your success will be measured by your ability to build trusted relationships, uncover strategic opportunities, influence engineering decisions, and position the organization as the preferred technical partner for complex mining infrastructure projects.
Strategic Business Development Responsibilities
- Develop and strengthen relationships with major mining companies, EPCM organizations, consulting engineers, owner's engineers, and key project stakeholders.
- Identify opportunities during feasibility studies, conceptual engineering, FEED, and detailed design while building long-term relationships with engineering, operations, maintenance, reliability, procurement, and executive leadership teams.
- Represent the organization at industry conferences, technical seminars, customer events, and industry associations to strengthen market presence and generate new business opportunities.
- Develop strategic account plans that expand market penetration and position the organization for long-term project success.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure mechanical solutions are incorporated into project specifications and designs.
- Provide engineering guidance for process piping, slurry transport, tailings systems, and backfill distribution.
- Support applications involving dewatering, process water, fire protection, utility piping, and water management systems.
- Assist with transmission pipelines, product selection, system optimization, constructability reviews, and lifecycle value engineering.
- Deliver technical presentations, application training, and engineering support that help customers optimize specifications, improve constructability, and maximize the operational value of mechanical piping systems.
Partner closely with internal engineering, applications engineering, estimating, project management, and regional sales teams to support projects from concept through commissioning by:
- Reviewing engineering specifications, drawings, and project requirements.
- Developing technical proposals, value-engineered alternatives, and commercial solutions.
- Optimizing layouts, constructability, and installation methodologies.
- Coordinating pricing, project execution, and ongoing customer support to ensure exceptional client satisfaction.
- Develop a comprehensive understanding of each customer's operational, maintenance, and engineering challenges.
- Develop business cases and provide technical expertise that improve installation productivity, worker safety, lifecycle costs, project execution, and long-term operational reliability.
- Establish yourself as the preferred engineering resource throughout the lifecycle of major mining and industrial projects by consistently delivering practical, value-driven solutions.
- Bachelor's Degree in Mining Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Process Engineering, Civil Engineering, or another related technical discipline.
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation is considered a significant asset.
- MBA or graduate engineering degree would be advantageous.
We're seeking an accomplished engineering business development professional who brings:
- 5+ years of progressive experience within the mining industry.
- Strong relationships with major mining companies, EPCM firms, engineering consultants, and project owners.
- Proven success supporting large capital mining projects from early engineering through construction and commissioning.
- Experience influencing engineering specifications and technical purchasing decisions.
- Demonstrated business development success built upon technical credibility and long-term client relationships.
- Base and precious metals including copper, gold, nickel, iron ore, lithium, potash, uranium, and critical minerals.
- Mineral processing operations including concentrators, processing plants, tailings facilities, and water management infrastructure.
- Heavy industrial sectors such as oil sands, bulk materials handling, process plants, and large-scale industrial processing facilities.
You possess strong technical knowledge in one or more of the following areas:
- Mining process infrastructure including process piping, slurry transport, tailings systems, dewatering, water management, pumping systems, and utility infrastructure.
- Engineering design and project execution including mechanical piping design, engineering specifications, constructability, reliability engineering, capital project delivery, and EPCM methodologies.
- Industrial processing environments involving mineral processing, heavy industrial facilities, bulk materials handling, and large-scale mechanical systems.
Desired Competencies
- Build trusted relationships with engineers, project managers, and executive stakeholders, and influence engineering decisions through technical expertise and consultative problem-solving.
- Communicate complex engineering concepts with clarity and confidence to technical and executive audiences.
- Navigate large organizations and complex stakeholder environments across lengthy capital project lifecycles.
- Develop strategic account plans to drive sustainable, long-term business growth.
- Balance engineering excellence with commercial awareness and sound business judgment.
This position requires regular travel throughout Western Canada to:
- Mining operations
- EPCM offices
- Engineering consulting firms
- Industrial processing facilities
- Industry conferences and customer events
