THE ROLE
STRIVE Recruitment is partnering with a well-established Vancouver-based organisation that has been delivering exceptional travel experiences to Canadians for over 20 years. As the business continues to grow and invest in new technology, they are looking to add an Accountant to their close-knit finance team.
This role offers a broad range of full-cycle accounting responsibilities with a particular emphasis on commission accounting, reconciliations and month-end support. Working closely with an experienced accounting team, you'll have the opportunity to take ownership of your work, contribute to ongoing process improvements, and play a key role in the implementation of a new cloud-based accounting system.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform full-cycle accounting duties, including journal entries, account reconciliations and general ledger maintenance.
- Reconcile high-volume commission payments, supplier transactions and customer accounts.
- Investigate discrepancies, outstanding balances and missing payments, ensuring issues are resolved accurately and efficiently.
- Prepare monthly account reconciliations and assist with month-end close activities.
- Process and reconcile commission payments for internal travel advisors.
- Work closely with internal stakeholders to resolve accounting queries and provide financial support.
- Assist with maintaining accurate financial records and supporting monthly reporting requirements.
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support the implementation and transition to a new cloud-based accounting platform.
- Assist with other accounting and finance projects as required.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
- 3+ years of progressive accounting experience.
- Strong understanding of full-cycle accounting and month-end processes.
- Excellent reconciliation skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Experience working with commissions, incentives, rebates or other high-volume transactional accounting environments is considered a strong asset.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with the confidence to investigate and resolve discrepancies independently.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with the ability to work effectively across multiple teams.
- Highly organized with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Comfortable learning new systems and adapting to evolving business processes.
- CPA designation or active enrolment in the CPA program is considered an asset but is not essential.
We are particularly interested in speaking with Intermediate Accountants or Corporate Accountants who enjoy reconciliation-heavy roles and have experience working in high-volume transactional environments. Experience with commission accounting, incentive programs or revenue reconciliations will be considered a strong asset.
