Social Media & Content Specialist

About the Role

Nch'ḵay̓ Development Corporation is looking for a creative and passionate Social Media & Content Specialist who lives and breathes social media.

Reporting to the Marketing Manager, you'll help bring our brands and stories to life by creating engaging content across Nch'ḵay̓ and our growing portfolio of operating businesses including our real estate projects. From community events and construction milestones to business launches, employee stories, and behind-the-scenes moments, you'll capture authentic content that reflects who we are and the impact we're creating.

This is a hands-on role for someone who is equally comfortable filming on an iPhone, editing a Reel, planning a content calendar, and identifying the next great story after anyone else does. You'll be responsible for creating and managing content across multiple social media channels while helping to grow our audiences, strengthen engagement, and showcase the work happening across our organization.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys being out in the community, and is passionate about storytelling through social media. If you're curious, creative, and excited by the opportunity to help shape one of Canada's leading Indigenous economic development organizations, we'd love to hear from you.

What You'll Do

Content Creation

  • Capture photo and video content across Nch'ḵay̓ and our operating businesses.
  • Create engaging social-first content including Reels, TikToks, Stories, carousels, photography and short-form video.
  • Edit video and photography using industry-leading tools.
  • Write compelling captions that align with each brand's voice.
  • Stay ahead of social trends while ensuring content remains authentic to our organization and community.

Social Media Management

  • Manage day-to-day social media execution across multiple brands and channels.
  • Develop and maintain monthly content calendars.
  • Schedule and publish content.
  • Monitor performance and recommend opportunities to improve engagement and reach.
  • Support community management by monitoring comments and messages and escalating issues when needed.

Story Development

  • Build relationships across the organization to uncover meaningful stories.
  • Attend community events, project milestones, employee activities, and business initiatives to capture content in real time.
  • Work closely with communications, marketing, community engagement and business teams to bring campaigns to life.
  • Help identify new storytelling opportunities that showcase the work and impact of Nch'ḵay̓.

Reporting & Analytics

  • Monitor and report on social media performance across all channels using analytics and reporting tools.
  • Track key performance indicators and provide actionable insights to improve content, audience engagement, and campaign performance.
  • Use data and audience insights to optimize content strategies and inform future planning.
  • Stay current on platform updates, algorithm changes, and emerging best practices to maximize results.

What You'll Bring

  • 3+ years of experience creating content and managing social media for a brand or organization.
  • Exceptional photography and short-form video creation skills.
  • Experience editing content using tools such as Adobe Creative Suite, CapCut, Canva, Premiere Pro or similar platforms.
  • Strong understanding of Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, TikTok and emerging platforms.
  • Excellent writing and storytelling skills.
  • Strong planning and organizational abilities with the ability to manage multiple brands and priorities.
  • Comfortable working independently and proactively identifying content opportunities.
  • Valid driver's licence and willingness to travel throughout the Lower Mainland to capture content.

You'll Thrive in This Role If You...

  • Love creating content and are always thinking about the next great story.
  • Naturally notice moments others might miss.
  • Enjoy being out in the community meeting people and building relationships.
  • Have a creator mindset and aren't afraid to jump behind the camera or in front of it when needed.
  • Can balance creativity with strategy.
  • Are curious, collaborative and always looking to improve.
  • Believe in the power of storytelling to strengthen communities.
