This is an exciting opportunity for a commercially driven and relationship-focused business development professional with strong mining industry knowledge. In this role, you will be responsible for building the company's market presence, identifying new business opportunities and developing strong relationships with prospective clients, industry stakeholders and key decision-makers across the North American mining sector.
As one of the first points of contact for prospective clients and external stakeholders, you will represent the company with professionalism, credibility and a strong understanding of the mining industry. This role will involve regular regional travel, including client meetings, mine site visits, industry events and networking opportunities.
This role is responsible for achieving market share and revenue goals in assigned region as set forth by the company. Incumbent will deliver value-focused sales messaging through prospect generation, cold-calling, industry event attendance and referral-selling techniques, among others. Incumbent will often be the first face of the company with external audiences including prospective clients, clients, c-suite leaders of mining companies, trade association personnel, higher education institution faculty and staff, and other external stakeholders. Role involves travel within Canada, United States and Mexico averaging 30-40%.
General Accountabilities
· Responsible for achieving territory sales volume and market share growth goals as assigned.
· Responsible for using CRM to ensure effective tracking of sales activity from prospecting through closing.
· Ensure collaborative internal relationships and communication with company leadership team and delivery teams in all aspects of role.
· Responsible for using consultative sales techniques to identify appropriate areas of service to promote to prospects.
· Ongoing support of company's safe work culture when present on client mine sites through use of JHA's, use of PPE and regular safety communication with clients, employees.
· Responsible for ensuring professional image, communications and demeanor at all times to maintain strong company reputation within industry.
· Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
· Minimum seven (7) years' experience in sales and business development role within a technical industry preferred.
· Mining industry experience and knowledge required to be considered for the role.
· Degree in marketing, communications or business preferred.
· Strong ability to embrace company's safety culture throughout office and field/customer sites required.
· Strong proficiency in using emerging technologies, Microsoft Office platforms and company's CRM.
· Proven ability to work self-directed to execute on business development plans across assigned region.
· Ability to make decisions in an effective and timely manner to ensure success.
· Strong communication skills in verbal and written formats with colleagues, prospective clients, industry organizations, etc.
· Strong ability to build relationships within industry organizations and prospective client base; representing company in professional manner at all times.
· Ability to work a flexible schedule including varied work schedules to accommodate needs of a global company and related time zones, as well as to attend various industry events and activities.
· Ability to travel within region up to 30-40%.
· High attention to detail, listening skills, and critical thinking skills to ensure issues are resolved proactively to ensure client and prospective client satisfaction.
· Demonstrated superior organization, communication and follow-through skills required to be considered for the role.
- Must live in or be willing to relocate to Vancouver, BC
- Spanish speaking is a plus
Work Environment, Travel & Physical Requirements
- This role requires regular business travel across Canada, the United States and Mexico, including travel by air and land. Regional travel is expected to average approximately 30–40% and may include attendance at client meetings, industry events and mine site visits.
- When attending client or mine sites, the successful candidate will be required to comply with all relevant site safety requirements, including the use of personal protective equipment where required.
- The physical requirements of this role may include regular sitting and standing, occasional walking on uneven ground or in enclosed spaces, occasional kneeling, and occasional lifting and/or moving of items up to 25 pounds.
