Driver

About the Role

We are building a reliable pool of experienced dump truck drivers available on a part-time and on-call basis. When project demands increase, we call on our driver pool to put additional qualified operators in seats quickly. There is no guaranteed minimum number of hours — availability and fit will determine how often you are called upon.

This is an excellent opportunity for drivers who want flexible work, are looking to supplement other employment, or want to maintain active hours during seasonal slowdowns with other employers.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate dump trucks safely to transport materials to and from construction sites, pits, and disposal locations
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections in accordance with regulations and company policy
• Complete accurate trip logs, load tickets, and any required documentation
• Communicate effectively with site supervisors and dispatch regarding schedules, loads, and any issues
• Follow all site-specific safety protocols, traffic control plans, and applicable regulations
• Maintain a clean, fuelled, and road-ready truck at the end of each shift
• Respond promptly to on-call requests within agreed-upon availability windows

Requirements

Licenses & Certifications

• Valid Ontario AZ or DZ license— must be in good standing
• Clean driver's abstract (CVOR may be requested)

Experience & Skills

• Minimum 2 years of verifiable dump truck or heavy equipment driving experience (ability to provide an experience letter)
• Familiarity with aggregate, construction, or civil site environments
• Ability to operate manual and automatic transmissions
• Solid understanding of load limits, weight restrictions, and compliance
• Strong situational awareness and commitment to on-site and road safety
• Professional, punctual, and able to work independently with minimal supervision

What to Expect as a Pool Driver

• Shifts are offered based on project demand — volume varies by season and workload
• You will be contacted by phone or text when shifts become available; prompt response is appreciated
• We ask that pool drivers keep us informed of their general availability and any extended periods of unavailability
• Drivers who are consistently available and reliable will naturally receive priority when shifts are allocated
• Opportunity to move into more regular hours as our projects grow
