The Opportunity

We're seeking a motivated Civil Project Manager with a background in civil construction and/or engineering who is ready to grow with a company committed to quality, reliability, and community. With a diverse fleet of equipment, a supportive team, and opportunities for professional growth, you'll play a valuable role in projects that make a difference in communities we work and live in.

As a Civil Project Manager, you'll take the lead in delivering complex infrastructure projects—from highways and municipal systems to heavy civil works. You'll oversee planning, coordination, and execution, ensuring safety, quality, and efficiency at every stage. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on solving challenges, enjoys working with a diverse team.

This role is based out of the Fraser Valley, with the possibility of travel to out-of-town projects. If you are positive, people-oriented, and eager to grow in the civil construction industry, this could be the role for you!

Your Key Responsibilities

Project planning and execution

  • Anticipates project needs with sufficient lead-time to avoid delay.
  • Ensures project deliverables and plans are prepared and issued to the client in accordance with the contract requirements.
  • Capable of identifying constructability issues in moderately complex situations and creating solutions in the construction plan and schedule.
  • Monitors construction progress and updates Senior Management to ensure projects are built on schedule and within budget.

Resource & Contract Management

  • Develop and monitor resource requirements for the project, coordinating with other personnel and operating divisions to optimize corporate resource utilization.
  • Correspond with subcontractors and major suppliers to prepare contracts.
  • Work with the project team to issue material purchase orders and confirm receipt of materials and return of equipment.

Leadership & Team Development

  • Mentor and lead operations staff on site.
  • Supervise and mentor site personnel.
  • Maintain a thorough Superintendent's daily report that accurately tracks site progress, events, inspections, and other relevant information.
  • Provide positive safety and quality leadership throughout the duration of the project.
  • Safety, Compliance & Problem Solving
  • Demonstrate leadership in health, safety, and environmental protection on the project.
  • Possess working knowledge of health, safety, and environmental protection practices and procedures as they apply to common construction processes.
  • Confers with project personnel to provide technical advice and resolve problems proactively.
  • Capable of identifying constructability issues in moderately complex situations and creating solutions in the construction plan and schedule.

Financial Oversight

  • Work closely with the Operations Manager to monitor financial aspects of the contract to protect both parties' interests.
  • Regularly monitor and review project cost variances, providing feedback to project teams as appropriate.

Your Qualifications & Skills

  • 5 years of project management experience in civil construction.
  • At least 3 years of experience managing in a unionized environment.
  • Diploma in Engineering, Construction Management, or Civil Technology.
  • Strong knowledge of construction disciplines, cost control, scheduling and safety regulations.
  • Proven ability to manage unique daily challenges while keeping projects on schedule and within budget.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel within the province.
  • Knowledge of WorkSafeBC Health & Safety legislation and regulations.
  • Valid Canadian driver's license and clean driving abstract required.
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite.
