Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the technical lead and senior reviewer on building restoration projects, providing technical oversight and quality assurance for work completed by project managers and junior staff.
- Conduct building condition investigations and prepare technical reports for parking structures, roofing systems, building envelopes, water infiltration, and related building components.
- Prepare technical specifications and manage the tendering and procurement process.
- Identify business development opportunities, build client relationships, and lead proposal preparation efforts.
- Represent the organization at industry events and contribute to the growth and visibility of the building engineering practice.
- Support the development of technical standards, procedures, and best practices while mentoring and training junior staff.
- Manage projects through all phases, including investigation, design, tendering, and construction administration.
- Monitor project budgets, schedules, invoicing, receivables, and overall financial performance.
- Develop and maintain strong client relationships through effective project management and communication.
- Identify, assess, and manage project risks.
- Ensure project deliverables meet quality, regulatory, and contractual requirements.
- Travel to project sites as required.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Building Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 15 years of experience in building science, building restoration, or consulting engineering.
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation is preferred; other relevant professional designations and equivalent experience will be considered.
- Comprehensive knowledge of building science and structural restoration, including:
- Roofing systems
- Waterproofing
- Structural rehabilitation
- Masonry restoration
- Windows and curtain wall systems
- Sealants
- Exterior Insulation and Finish Systems (EIFS)
- Site paving
- Exterior cladding systems
- Excellent written, verbal, technical writing, and presentation skills.
- Strong organizational, planning, and time management abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and adapt to changing priorities.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Collaborative, team-oriented approach.
- Valid driver's license with the ability to travel to project sites as required.
