Our client is seeking an experienced Banking Paralegal to join its busy Banking & Financial Services group. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional who enjoys managing complex commercial lending transactions, coordinating multiple stakeholders, and working as part of a collaborative legal team.
Key ResponsibilitiesBanking & Financial Services Support- Assist lawyers with commercial lending and secured financing transactions from opening through closing.
- Prepare and review loan and security documentation, including:
- General Security Agreements
- Guarantees
- Postponement Agreements
- Assignments
- Related financing documents
- Conduct and analyze due diligence searches, including:
- PPSA searches
- Corporate searches
- Bankruptcy searches
- Litigation searches
- Register, amend, renew, and discharge security interests through applicable registries.
- Prepare financing statements, security registrations, and supporting transaction documentation.
- Coordinate transaction conditions, closing requirements, and post-closing activities.
- Prepare closing agendas, transaction checklists, and closing documentation packages.
- Maintain electronic and physical transaction records.
- Assist with corporate record preparation and review related to financing matters.
- Communicate with clients, lenders, borrowers, legal counsel, government agencies, and third-party service providers.
- Monitor critical deadlines and ensure timely completion of transaction requirements.
- Assist with file management, billing, and administrative tasks.
- Manage multiple financing and lending files simultaneously.
- Coordinate transaction closings and ensure all documentation and registrations are completed accurately.
- Identify and escalate issues requiring lawyer review.
- Assist with maintaining precedents, templates, and process improvements.
- Collaborate effectively with lawyers, legal assistants, and other firm departments.
- Completion of a recognized Paralegal program or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum 3 years of experience as a paralegal in:
- Banking law
- Secured lending
- Commercial transactions
- Related practice areas
- Strong knowledge of secured lending transactions and PPSA registrations.
- Experience with corporate due diligence and transaction documentation.
- Familiarity with BC Corporate Registries, PPSA systems, and related filing platforms.
- Exceptional organizational and time-management skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Strong client service orientation and professional judgment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and legal document management systems.
- Competitive salary ranging from $85,000 to $120,000, depending on experience and qualifications.
