TOR Properties is looking for an experienced Site Superintendent to help lead construction projects from the ground up. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on construction professional who enjoys coordinating people, solving problems, keeping projects moving, and seeing meaningful work come to life.
As a family-owned and operated group of companies with roots in Alberta, Ontario, and British Columbia, TOR Properties brings a family-first approach to everything we do, including construction, property management, and senior independent living. We value strong relationships, accountability, quality work, and a collaborative team environment.
Position Summary: The Site Superintendent is a 12-month contract role who will oversee day-to-day construction activities on the project site and help ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and in alignment with project plans, specifications, schedules, and quality standards. This role is ideal for someone who is organized, proactive, and comfortable working closely with contractors, subcontractors, vendors, internal project teams, and the home office. The successful candidate will play a key role in keeping the project on track while supporting communication, documentation, safety, and cost awareness.
Compensation Range: $120,000 | 12-Month Contract
What You'll Do

- Review work for quality, safety, and compliance with project plans and specifications.
- Partner with the home office on project finance matters, including budget updates, invoices, purchase orders, cost tracking, and related documentation.
- Communicate project costs, financial concerns, or budget-related issues to management and the home office.
- Identify and communicate project issues, delays, risks, or management concerns.
- Assist with scheduling inspections, deliveries, contractor work, and other site activities.

- Support site safety expectations and report unsafe conditions or practices.
- Maintain basic project documentation, notes, status updates, and records.
- Participate in project meetings and provide updates on construction progress.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- Previous experience supervising or coordinating commercial building construction or general contracting projects is required — trade-specific experience (insulation, pipeline, single-trade) does not meet this requirement.
- Seven or more years of experience as a Site Superintendent on commercial building construction projects is required; preference given to candidates with 10 or more years.
- Experience overseeing the full scope of a commercial building with multiple trades and subcontractors is required.
- Experience with industrial, commercial, manufacturing, or warehouse building construction with a general contractor is preferred.
- Basic understanding of project budgets, invoices, purchase orders, and cost tracking is preferred.
- Knowledge of construction safety practices, site coordination, and Alberta safety requirements.
- Knowledge of construction equipment and its capabilities.
- Ability to be on-site regularly in Edmonton, AB throughout the project duration.
- Ability to read and understand construction plans, schedules, and specifications.
- Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively with contractors, subcontractors, vendors, the home office, and internal teams.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and SiteDocs; familiarity with Procore is an asset.
This role is performed on active commercial construction sites. The Superintendent must be able to stand and walk for extended periods, lift up to 50 pounds, and occasionally climb stairs, ladders, or scaffolding. Work may involve outdoor weather conditions, loud noise, heavy equipment, uneven surfaces, and required use of PPE. A valid driver's license and reliable transportation are required.
