About the Role:

This position provides direct leadership and support to staff and volunteers, ensuring that members, guests, and participants have positive and welcoming experiences while visiting our Centre. This position is responsible for processing membership sales, services, and program registrations, which directly contributes to member satisfaction and the overall success of YMCA programs.

This position is full-time with 40 hours per week and includes benefits.

Responsibilities:

Leadership

  • Recruit, hire, train and manage all staff and volunteers within the YMCA Experience team. Complete necessary onboarding paperwork in a timely manner. Ensure staff's orientation and training; both starting and reoccurring are completed.
  • Provide feedback/recognition to staff members regularly, including evaluations, schedule meetings and in-services.
  • Coach others using the YMCA Experience Manual policies and practices and the Y Way Service Standards.
  • Lead and manage processes, systems and initiatives that will promote growth, improve retention and ensure all YMCA experiences are excellent.
  • Assess and identify service situations and exercises sound judgement in recommending facilitating solutions both in YMCA Experience and the Centre as a whole.
  • Responsible for the development, implementation and management of Membership expense budgets.
  • Ongoing performance, management, evaluation, and recognition of staff, ensure that the volunteers act in a supportive and facilitative role for staff and members.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to philanthropy activities to advance association objectives and foster greater engagement among members and participants.

Service Delivery

  • Be available to provide information on YMCA programs and services to meet individual needs, process registrations for memberships, events, programs, and services.
  • Process and approve Financial Assistance applications.
  • Lead tours and welcome prospective members.
  • Act as a backup to Associates when needed.

Health Safety and Child Protection

  • Maintains a safe and supportive environment by following and leading YMCA Health Safety Child Protection and Emergency Policies and Procedures.
  • Assist with emergency situations as required.

Administration

  • Ensure facility requests are used to record or report cleaning and maintenance needs.
  • Contribute to branch Duty Manager shifts on a weekly basis.
  • Follow YMCA Cash Handling Policy and processes.

Qualifications:

  • Related post-secondary education is an asset.
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
  • 2-3 years' experience as a leader in a customer service environment.
  • Intermediate (Standard) First Aid & CPR-C.
  • Able to obtain a Police Information Check and Vulnerable sector check.
  • Works well with team in a customer service capacity.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office and other forms of technology effectively.
  • Flexible work schedule – including early mornings, evenings, weekends and Stat holidays.
