Are you mechanically inclined, hands-on, and the type of person who enjoys figuring out how things work? This is a great opportunity to join a well-established Canadian equipment rental organization with a strong reputation, a large fleet, and long-term career growth opportunities.
We are looking for a Field Service Heavy Equipment Mechanic to support a busy rental equipment operation. This role is ideal for someone with experience repairing construction, aerial, or heavy equipment, or for a strong 3rd or 4th year apprentice who is ready to take the next step in their career.
You do not need to be fully licensed to be considered. A license is an asset, but what matters most is your mechanical ability, work ethic, safety mindset, and willingness to learn.
About the Role
As a Field Service Heavy Equipment Mechanic, you will travel to customer sites to inspect, diagnose, repair, and maintain a variety of construction and rental equipment. You will play an important role in keeping equipment safe, reliable, and ready for the jobsite.
This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys working independently, solving problems, and taking pride in quality workmanship.

- Testing repaired equipment to ensure it is operating safely and properly
- Completing preventative maintenance, lubrication, and routine service work
- Servicing attachments, accessories, and related tools
- Ordering parts as needed to complete repairs efficiently
- Completing service reports and repair documentation accurately
- Maintaining a clean, organized, and safe service vehicle
- Working closely with service, branch, and operations teams to support customers
- Following all health, safety, and environmental procedures
What We're Looking For
The ideal candidate will have:
- Hands-on mechanical experience with construction, rental, agricultural, truck, automotive, or heavy equipment
- Experience with equipment such as aerial lifts, skid steers, excavators, loaders, compactors, generators, or similar machinery
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
- Hydraulic system knowledge
- A valid G Class driver's license with a clean driver's abstract
- Ability to work independently with strong time management skills
- A customer-focused approach and professional communication style
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in all weather conditions
- A strong commitment to safety and quality workmanship
- Personal tools required for the role
Nice to Have
These are considered assets, but not mandatory:
- Heavy Equipment Technician license
- 3rd or 4th year apprenticeship status
- Experience with CAT, Genie, Skyjack, or other construction equipment brands
- Familiarity with diagnostic systems such as ET, SIS, or similar platforms
- Field service experience
- Experience working in a rental equipment environment
What's Offered
This opportunity comes with a strong total rewards package, including:
- Competitive compensation
- Immediate benefits
- Extended health, dental, and vision coverage
- Paid sick days

- Employee stock purchase plan
- Life and disability insurance
- Mental health and counselling support
- Employee assistance program
- Safety shoe reimbursement and custom insoles

Why This Opportunity Stands Out
This is a chance to join a stable, well-respected Canadian organization with a strong service culture and a large equipment fleet. You will work with a supportive team, gain exposure to a wide variety of equipment, and have the opportunity to continue developing your technical skills.
You will not be stuck doing the same repair every day. This role offers variety, independence, and the satisfaction of helping customers keep their projects moving.
Who This Role Is Best Suited For
This position is a great fit for someone who is:
- Mechanically strong and enjoys hands-on work
- Reliable, safety-focused, and detail-oriented
- Comfortable working in the field and solving problems on site
