Job Description
We are seeking an energetic, driven, and reliable Structural Steel Installer to join our field crew. In this role, you will be hands-on in the outdoors, executing the safe assembly and erection of vital structural components. You will work closely with crane operators, layout crews, and fabricators to transform architectural blueprints into reality.
Key Responsibilities
Install and erect structural steel components, including columns, beams, girders, and trusses, utilizing cranes and rigging equipment.
Assemble, fit, and install steel stairways, handrails, platforms, and other miscellaneous structural/architectural items.
Perform field welding and modifications as needed to ensure perfect fitment and structural integrity.
Signal crane operators and guide steel components into place safely and precisely.
Read and interpret structural fabrication blueprints, shop drawings, and erection plans.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work site, adhering strictly to all WorkSafeBC and site-specific safety regulations.
Qualifications & Requirements
Experience: Proven hands-on experience in structural steel installation and erection within the construction industry.
Welding Skills: Proficient in welding, with a strong preference for Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW / Stick). CWB (Canadian Welding Bureau) certification or other equivalent welding credentials are a REAL asset.
Blueprint Reading: Demonstrated ability to read and accurately interpret structural steel blueprints, drawings, and schematics.
Physical Capability: Ability to handle physical labor, including heavy lifting of at least 50 to 60 lbs (23 to 27 kg) on a regular basis.
Work Environment: Comfortable and willing to work outdoors in all weather conditions characteristic of the Pacific Northwest.
Key Traits: Outgoing, energetic personality with a strong team-oriented work ethic and excellent situational awareness regarding site safety.
