Who we are looking for:
An Estimator is responsible for establishing new business relationships within the construction industry, creating sales opportunities, and estimating/quoting those opportunities. This position develops business opportunities and leading company growth, with a primary mandate focused on adding and developing new customer relationships. This position is responsible for being the primary point-of-contact for key projects throughout the project life-cycle.

MAJOR JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (List in order of importance)
Canvas and develop new accounts and explore new areas of business in Ottawa
Secure opportunities with on-site decision-makers
Establish relationships and maintain contact with accounts
Cold calling to generate new leads and client accounts with large general contractors and small builders alike, follow up and close
Preparation of proposals, quotations and contracts (i.e., estimating)
Determine construction obstacles that may increase the project cost in advance; ability to make alternative recommendations
Service as the primary point of contact for customers during project execution, serving customer needs and requests and troubleshooting when/if required.
Meet pre-established sales goals, targets and objectives directed by Management
Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS (Education/Training, Experience and Certifications)
5+ years of industry sales/estimating experience (e.g., previous experience estimating/selling scaffolding or other access solutions, or previous experience managing or building scaffolding-related projects)
Valid driver's license in good standing
Highschool diploma

The stated range, which may vary depending on primary work location, represents the minimum and maximum base salary we expect to offer newly hired employees for this position. We recognize that exceptional talent doesnt always fit neatly into a bracket. If your qualifications exceed the scope of this role, we may be open to expanding the mandate and adjusting the salary to reflect your expertise.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (Those necessary to perform the job competently)
Proven ability to network effectively with on-site project managers/site supervisors and a history of building and sustaining strong business relationships
Agile and highly motivated self-starter who enjoys working in the construction field, being mobile and is comfortable building new relationships
Demonstrated a track record of success in prospecting and growing new accounts, creating opportunities for new work, preparing quotes and pitching new clients
Ability to read drawings, plans, and blueprints
Mathematical, mechanical, and logical reasoning abilities
Basic knowledge and use of computer software: email, spreadsheets, MS Office and familiarity of CAD Software
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to take initiative and work with minimal supervision under tight time constraints
A sense of urgency and capable of responding to matters in a timely manner
Valid Drivers license in good standing
ENVIRONMENTAL WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL EFFORT (Under Typical Positions)
Work is performed in both indoor and outdoor environments where temperatures will range throughout the various seasons with exposure to cold and hot temperatures
Standing and walking occurs frequently
Driving and sit for long periods of time occurs frequently
Working at a desk, viewing a computer screen, and using a keyboard and mouse occurs frequently
Work may be performed in confined spaces
Full-face respirators may be required for extended periods
Stooping, knelling, crawling, and crouching is required occasionally
Exposure to vibrations may occur and may be required to wear hearing protection devices
