Material Handler

Job Responsibilities:

• Perform general physical activities in order to load, unload, sort, and move shipments by hand or using material handling equipment.
• Obtain a copy of the production schedule or shipping order and transport material or equipment to and from designated areas in the facility.
• Ensure loads are secure prior to transporting the materials on the shop floor.
• Transport raw material to production workstations.
• Order and store shop supplies to maintain inventory levels.
• Responsible for ensuring the shop floor is kept free from hazards and items are stored in the proper location.
• Deliver or route materials to other departments using material handling devices.
• Perform pre- and post-equipment inspections to determine the need for repairs and ensure regular maintenance is completed.

Requirements:

• Must know imperial/metric math.
• Ability to use a measuring tape.

Qualifications:

• High School diploma or equivalent with 1-3 years of forklift experience (an asset).
• Good math, language, and reading skills; basic computer skills may be required.
• High degree of attention required to prevent injury to others and promote a safe work environment.
• Follow instructions for operating equipment and keeping records.
• Execute assignments in an accurate, timely, and safe manner.
